Since 2001, Son La College has taught Vietnamese and trained human resources for 9 Lao provinces, including students from Luang Prabang and Udomxay provinces. The school has conducted 22 Vietnamese preparatory courses for international students and 13 Vietnamese language training courses for officials from 9 Lao provinces, with a total of 3,625 international students.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the school has 269 Lao students, including 33 from Luang Prabang province and 29 from Oudomxay province. Most of the students who took Vietnamese preparatory courses before majoring received a Vietnamese proficiency certificate level 4 or higher, demonstrating their ability to read, write, listen, and speak Vietnamese to meet the requirements of their future work in their home country.
For international students who are trained in intermediate and college majors, they are all qualified to graduate, have solid professional skills, and good Vietnamese language skills. The school continues to pay attention to and implement the management and support of Lao international students in many diverse and rich forms.
