As part of the New Rice Festival of the Thai ethnic group in Quang Huy commune, Phu Yen district, in 2024, unique folk games were held in the grounds of the Quang Huy Commune Traditional House.

The team from Chiềng Thượng village competed in sifting rice that had already been pounded.
The folk games include a rice cooking competition and catching eels in a jar. In the rice cooking competition, participating teams must perform the steps of pounding rice into grains, which are scored separately. Afterward, the teams must carry the pot while maintaining a steady fire. This competition requires skill from the participating teams and also honors the rice farmers in the area. The eel-catching game requires dexterity from the contestants to catch the largest number of eels.
