Bac Yen District is a mountainous district with a fragmented terrain and relatively rich vegetation cover, majestic natural landscapes, a cool climate year-round, and a diverse ecosystem. The district boasts many beautiful scenic spots that could be developed into attractive tourist destinations, such as: Ta Xua Cloud Paradise; the Camel Ridge, Dolphin Ridge, and Lonely Tree tour; Dinosaur Backbone in Hang Dong commune; A Phu Couple's Cave in Hong Ngai commune; Khac Co Khe Ho rock formation in Hang Chu commune; ancient tea hill in Ban Be village, Ta Xua commune; Na Pa Lotus Lake on the mountain in Hua Nhan commune; Chieng Sinh cave in Phieng Con commune; Su Dan cave in Chieng Sai commune; terraced rice fields in Xim Vang commune; Pu Nhi pine hill and Tan Ban hot spring in Phieng Ban commune, etc.
Bac Yen District possesses significant potential and advantages in tourism, including community-based tourism, resort tourism, and especially ecotourism. It is home to seven ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture, festivals, and customs. In recent years, the Party Committee and government of Bac Yen District have shown great interest in and directed efforts towards tourism, identifying it as a new sector linked to the overall socio-economic development of the locality. Therefore, the district places particular emphasis on promoting and publicizing the potential of community-based tourism in the area to raise awareness among all sectors, levels, and the people about the importance and role of tourism development.
As a large and active force in many fields, the youth union members of Bac Yen district are always aware that tourism is a driving force for the comprehensive development of the local economy, society, and the stability of local security and politics. In light of this, the Youth Union at all levels has effectively carried out propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for generations of union members and young people in participating in promoting and developing tourism. Through this, they have contributed to job creation, helping the district's youth to develop economically and strive to become wealthy in their own hometown.
Recognizing the local potential and strengths in tourism development, the Youth Union throughout the district has proactively advised and implemented propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage young people to participate in promoting and developing tourism in the district. Young people have established one agricultural and eco-tourism cooperative, three homestay models run by young people, built two performing arts groups to serve tourism, implemented one model for growing clean vegetables, developed a digital guidebook introducing tourism in Bac Yen district, built experiential tourism routes and one team of tour guides for tourists participating in experiential tourism. Two teams of young volunteers have been established to promote environmental protection in tourism development, and two teams of young volunteers have been established to collect waste and build incinerators at tourist sites in the district. Over 50 young people in the district are directly involved in tourism development. In addition, it is proposed to organize annual cloud-hunting festivals, ethnic festivals, and cultural, artistic, and sports activities to attract tourists and enhance the promotion of the image and beauty of the traditional culture of the ethnic groups in the district.
