Son La province currently has more than 600 kindergartens, general schools, and continuing education schools with nearly 380,000 students.

With the motto of determination, high concentration, and persistent implementation of measures and solutions to improve and enhance the quality of education in a substantial, sustainable manner and in accordance with practical conditions, in the period of 2020 - 2024, the Education and Training sector of Son La province has achieved many remarkable achievements, the results of the high school graduation exam have continuously increased in the past 5 years, from more than 95.7% in 2020 to more than 99.8% in 2024; the locality is the 12th province nationwide and the 5th province out of 14 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains to achieve the standard of universalizing lower secondary education level 2.

In particular, Son La has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a member of the global learning network; Son La Province's Education and Training is on the world education map along with the education of developed countries, which is the pride of Son La Province in general and of Son La Education in particular.

The 2024-2025 school year marks the end of the term of implementing the Resolution of the 15th Congress of the Son La Provincial Party Committee; at the same time, it is the school year in which the 2018 General Education Program is implemented in all grades from 1 to 12, and is also the first school year to organize the High School Graduation Exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. With the theme "Discipline, responsibility, innovation, improving the quality of education and training", the Education and Training sector of Son La province is determined to continue to make efforts to overcome limitations and shortcomings, and is determined to successfully implement the plans and tasks set out for the school year.
