On May 28, 2023, in Moc Chau district, the People's Committee of Son La province organized a conference on linking and promoting world-class natural destinations. This was one of the events within the framework of the Son La Province Cultural Tourism Festival 2023.

The conference was attended by leaders of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; 8 provinces in the expanded Northwest region; provinces cooperating with Son La province in development; tourism associations; and over 30 tourism businesses, travel companies, and tourism cooperatives from the province and nationwide.
Over the years, Son La province has developed various tourism products, such as: ecotourism, resort tourism, community-based tourism associated with agriculture, and cultural tourism. Many tourist areas and attractions have gradually become famous, attracting domestic and international tourists to Son La, such as: Bach Long Glass Bridge (the world's longest glass pedestrian bridge), Moc Chau night market, spiritual tourism and Quynh Nhai lake tourism area, Ngoc Chien tourist site (Muong La), Pha Din Top tourist site (Thuan Chau), the dinosaur spine, and Ta Xua cloud hunting (Bac Yen)... Notably, in 2022, Moc Chau National Tourist Area - Son La was selected and honored as the "World's Leading Regional Natural Destination". The number of tourists visiting Son La continues to increase; in 2022, the number of tourists to Son La was estimated at 3.3 million, with estimated revenue of nearly 3,000 billion VND. In the first five months of 2023, Son La province is estimated to have received over 2 million tourists, generating total revenue of over 2 trillion VND.
At the conference, delegates and tourism businesses shared and exchanged expertise to develop distinctive and professional tourism products, creating new tourism products and tours, contributing to the overall development of Vietnam's tourism industry, provinces and cities nationwide, the expanded Northwest region, Ho Chi Minh City, and Son La. Simultaneously, they focused on discussing solutions and directions for linking and promoting the region's world-leading natural destinations; and introducing and promoting the Moc Chau National Tourist Area brand to spread further domestically and internationally.

Previously, delegates and tourism businesses surveyed and assessed the quality of tourist areas, attractions, and accommodation facilities in the Moc Chau National Tourist Area, such as Moc Chau Island Tourist Area, Moc Chau pedestrian street - night market, and Na Ka plum valley in Moc Chau district; they also surveyed and experienced the Nordic Village, A Chu Homestay, and Chieng Di market in Van Ho district. During the survey trip, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of the Son La Province Cultural Tourism Festival “World's Leading Regional Natural Destination” 2023 and the final round of the VTV Cup Off Road 2023 motorcycle race in Bo Nhang village, Van Ho commune, Van Ho district.
