At the meeting to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union held this morning, August 8, the Son La Provincial Labor Federation honored 95 outstanding union officials and members; awarded commemorative medals to 37 individuals for their contributions to the cause of building the trade union.
After more than 60 years of establishment and development, Son La Trade Union has now had more than 50,000 union members, operating in 1,260 grassroots unions. With the dynamism, sensitivity and adaptability of the union cadres, union activities at all levels in the province have made important changes, especially in performing the role of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.

Every year, 5,000-7,000 union members and employees in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious illnesses, without housing... receive attention and support from the Trade Union at all levels; 3,000-4,000 topics, initiatives, and useful solutions are accepted and applied to practice, professional tasks and production... These results have contributed to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development, defense and security goals; gradually enhancing the role and position of the trade union organization in the new situation.

Ms. Thai Thi Mai, Permanent Vice President of the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor, said: "In the coming years, the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to perform well the functions and roles of the trade union organization in caring for, representing, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers. Secondly, we will continue to launch emulation movements for union members and workers throughout the province to promote the capacity, ability and especially the creativity of union members and workers in improving models, improving working conditions, improving conditions to help agencies, units and businesses develop more and more."
