Cooperative societies have proactively linked production, actively participated in trade promotion and product consumption activities; invested in production towards high-tech and organic farming, gradually increasing the value of products in the area. The entire district currently has 1,119 hectares certified under VietGAP, including over 1,029 hectares of fruit trees; 80 hectares of industrial crops; and 11.1 hectares of vegetables. 48 safe agricultural and aquatic food supply chains are maintained and developed. Agricultural production activities and the development of advantageous fruit tree areas are focused on commercial production, applying high technology to production and forming linkages in agricultural production.
On August 7, 2024, the People's Committee of Son La province decided to recognize the High-Tech Coffee Production Zone in Chieng Chung and Chieng Ban communes, Mai Son district, with 679 participating households and an area of over 368 hectares. This brings the total number of high-tech agricultural zones in the district to 4, with a total area of nearly 1,742 hectares and 2,405 households participating in high-tech agricultural production zones for coffee and custard apple.
In addition, the district is developing production and consumption chains for coffee, sugarcane, seed corn, cassava, sweet corn, soybeans, vegetables, etc., linked with processing plants. Mai Son district aims to have 5,400 hectares of fruit trees grown using high-tech methods and 2,700 hectares of fruit trees grown organically by 2025.
