(Sonla.gov.vn) “Continue to strictly control activities and immigration; maintain close monitoring of the area, ensure security and order in border regions; protect the border line and markers, and uphold national sovereignty and security” – this was the directive of Comrade Hoang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Border Steering Committee, at the Son La Provincial Border Steering Committee meeting held on August 4, 2023. Attending the meeting were members of the Steering Committee and the Standing Committees of the border districts.

Over the past period, the relationship between the Party committees, governments, and functional forces of our country and our neighboring country has been consistently strengthened, maintaining the traditional solidarity and friendship; closely coordinating in resolving incidents arising in the border area, maintaining economic and social development, and gradually improving the material and spiritual lives of the people in the border region. National territorial sovereignty, the border system, border markers, and border posts are ensured to be safe and in their original state; political security and social order in the border area are stable. Since the beginning of the year, functional forces have intensified bilateral and unilateral patrol and control work in the border area, thereby promptly detecting and handling emerging situations. Regarding immigration and emigration, procedures have been processed for over 23,000 people to exit the border area and nearly 28,000 people to enter, along with tens of thousands of vehicles and goods. The value of goods exported between Son La province and neighboring provinces of Laos is estimated at over 750,000 USD, equivalent to over 17 billion VND.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh requested that members of the Steering Committee continue to improve forecasting, proactively implement measures to ensure security and order both domestically and internationally, and avoid being caught off guard by emerging situations; closely coordinate among forces, with the police, army, and border guards as the core, to build a comprehensive national security and defense posture; further improve public relations work, understanding the thoughts and aspirations of the people and developments in the border area; effectively implement national target programs to ensure social welfare and improve the lives of people in the border area; and at the same time, continue to strictly control immigration and emigration activities; protect the border and boundary markers, and maintain national sovereignty and security.
