Today (August 31st), a large number of people from various ethnic groups and tourists from all over flocked to Moc Chau plateau, Son La province to celebrate Independence Day and enjoy the Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2024.
Along the roads ablaze with red flags and flowers, the Moc Chau plateau in Son La province is even more vibrant today with the traditional clothing of the Mong, Thai, and La Ha ethnic groups, along with their lively dances, drums, and gongs, creating a colorful cultural atmosphere.
Mr. Mua A Lu, from Pa Khen 3 sub-district, Moc Chau Plantation town, said: “Today, participating in the national intangible cultural heritage performance competition, I am very proud and happy, and I promise to try my best to pass on to my children and grandchildren, to preserve and protect the culture and the sound of the khen flute of my ethnic group.”

The Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week features vibrant and attractive activities, such as: the Mong ethnic cultural space, the brocade market, bird hunting, Pao throwing, Tu Lu releasing, a competition showcasing national intangible cultural heritage and community culture with the theme "Preserving Heritage - the essence of identity"...
The Culture and Tourism Week created a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, contributing to promoting and honoring the traditional cultural values and tourism potential of Moc Chau. At the same time, it introduced to the people, tourists, and friends both domestically and internationally the image of a dynamic Moc Chau, rich in potential, with a strong ethnic identity, as an ideal destination in the Northwest region.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Moc Chau District, Son La Province, said: “This year's Culture and Tourism Week has a very special feature: Moc Chau will be showcasing national-level intangible cultural heritage. Eleven heritage items will be recreated at this year's festival. We hope that this will be a source of pride for the ethnic communities of Moc Chau District, helping them preserve and promote their cultural values; at the same time, these will also be unique tourism products to offer visitors, providing memorable experiences for those who come to Moc Chau Culture Week.”
Tomorrow (September 1st), the Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week will feature many attractive activities showcasing the unique cultural identity of the local ethnic groups, such as: making sticky rice cakes; experiencing the culinary culture of various ethnic groups; community cultural performances; and performances of Mong ethnic folk art… The highlight will be a special art program themed “Enchanting Night of Rendezvous”.
