Hundreds of athletes participate in the ethnic sports festival

Today, Trang Thi Nhu and the young people of Lao Kho 1 village gathered at the center of Phieng Khoai commune to participate in the 2024 Yen Chau district Ethnic Minority Sports Festival with a tug of war competition. With careful training and preparation, Nhu's team is determined to achieve the highest results at the Festival.

Trang Thi Nhu, Lao Kho 1 village, Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district, shared: Today, participating in the tug of war competition, I feel that today's Sports Festival is very exciting and fun. I hope that my team will win a high prize in the tug of war competition and hope that the district and commune will regularly organize festivals like this so that I have the opportunity to participate, exchange and learn from experiences.

Participating in the Festival, athletes competed in the following events: crossbow shooting, tu lu, stick pushing, tug of war and men's football. In particular, tug of war and stick pushing are events that require the athletes' flexibility, health and coordination and received enthusiastic cheers from a large number of fans. However, with careful training and preparation, all teams showed their determination to achieve the highest results at the Festival.

Mr. Lo Van Thoan, Yen Son commune team, Yen Chau district shared: "Yen Son commune team participates in 3 competitions: stick pushing 60-65kg, men's tug of war and mixed men's and women's tug of war. Since receiving the district's plan, we have prepared the conditions for the competition, selecting people with good health and skills to participate in the competition. Our team has 20 athletes. I hope to compete for first and second place with other teams."

Ethnic Sports Festival unites people in border areas

Talking to reporters, Mr. Pham Duc Long, Vice Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee said: The 2024 Yen Chau District Ethnic Minority Sports Festival is organized on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024) not only to preserve and promote traditional folk games to the masses but also to contribute to promoting the practice and competition of ethnic sports among ethnic minorities in the district.

According to the Vice Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee, the purpose is to create a joyful atmosphere among ethnic minorities, practically and practically implementing the Central Resolution on comprehensive human development of Vietnam. Especially preserving folk games such as tu lu, tug of war, stick pushing... are traditional games of ethnic groups. Through this activity, we contribute to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups.

Taking place from August 31 to September 2, 2024, sports activities at the Yen Chau District Ethnic Minority Sports Festival 2024 have become indispensable cultural and spiritual activities of ethnic minorities; demonstrating the attention and care of all levels and sectors to encourage ethnic minorities to actively practice physical exercise and sports, improve their health; contributing to promoting the movement "All people practice physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
