Continuing the activities within the framework of the 2024 Culture and Tourism Week “Moc Chau - The Call of Love Season”, on the evening of September 1st, at the 8/5 Square, New Administrative Area, Moc Chau district, an art program titled “Enchanting Night of Romance” took place. Attending the program were Comrade Ha Trung Chien - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Son La City Party Committee; representatives of leaders from various departments, agencies and some districts of the province; former provincial leaders; representatives of the government of Sop Bau district, Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic; Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province... along with a large number of local people and tourists.
The art program "Enchanting Night of Rendezvous" introduced to the people and tourists the beautiful and hospitable Moc Chau plateau; its potential for economic and tourism development; and the unique cultural features of the ethnic groups in Moc Chau district. The program presented a colorful symphony of sound and light, vividly showcasing the distinctive culture of the ethnic groups in Moc Chau district in particular and Son La province in general. The singing, the sound of the flute, blended with the vibrant sounds of gongs and drums during the festival night, offered the audience a delightful experience of the land and people of the Moc Chau plateau.
At the ceremony, certificates recognizing three intangible cultural heritage sites in Moc Chau district as national intangible cultural heritage were announced and awarded: the Rain Prayer Festival of the White Thai people in Muong Sang commune; the decorative art on the costumes of the Dao Tien people; and the Mo Muong ritual of the Muong ethnic group. These heritage sites have been preserved and protected by the people of these ethnic groups for generations and have been passed down through their lives, culture, and spirit to this day. Promoting these heritage sites is both a solution and a goal for the people of these ethnic groups to preserve the traditional values and origins of their people for future generations.
Ms. NGUYEN THI HOA – Vice Chairperson of the People's Committee of Moc Chau District, Son La Province:Moc Chau is very happy today to receive three national intangible cultural heritage sites. This is an important foundation for preserving the cultural values of the Moc Chau people. Secondly, these heritage sites also serve as tourism products for visitors to experience. In practice, cultural tourism has been very effective, bringing satisfaction to both domestic and international tourists.
The arts program concluded with a circle dance symbolizing unity, involving numerous delegates, artisans, performers, and tourists, creating a vibrant and colorful cultural space amidst the highland landscape.
