(sonlatv.vn) - In order to improve the skills of households engaged in community tourism business, the People's Committee of Son Lat City recently opened a training course on tourism skills in Chieng Co commune, with the motto of developing community tourism in conjunction with preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in the area.
Today, Ms. Quàng Thị Oanh and the other trainees in the training course had the opportunity to practice cooking traditional dishes of their ethnic group. They personally prepared the ingredients, processed the food, and presented the dishes in the most visually appealing way.
Ms. Quàng Thị Oanh, Ót Nọi village, Chiềng Cọ commune, Sơn La city:"From a young age, I've learned to cook from my grandmothers and mothers, learning how to prepare traditional ethnic dishes. However, through this training course, I've learned many more culinary skills and diverse cooking methods, which will help enrich the culinary traditions of my ethnic group."
With over 40 trainees, representing households engaged in community-based tourism services in Chiềng Cọ commune, the training covered topics such as: tourism and homestay services; hygiene, environmental protection, and safety in tourism business; communication and customer care; food and beverage service, cooking, etc.
Mr. Tong Van Thanh, Secretary of the Party Branch of Ngoai village, Chieng Co commune, Son La city:"Through this training course, we have gained a good understanding of skills in welcoming guests and cooking. We will apply the knowledge we've learned to contribute to the further development of community tourism in Chiềng Cọ commune."
With the motto "Every citizen is a tour guide," the City People's Committee pays special attention to disseminating skills in community tourism development, so that unique tourism ideas can be generated, contributing to the construction of model new rural areas in the future.

The Thai ethnic culture is very diverse, especially its rich cuisine. To ensure that this training course covers the skills in preparing dishes to serve tourists, we hope that the participating households will ensure that tourists visiting Son La city are well-prepared."
