The close relationship between Vietnam and Laos was formed in the history between the two neighboring countries, both leaning against the majestic Truong Son mountain range and drinking from the same Mekong River. From North to South, Laos has 10 provinces sharing a border with 10 provinces of Vietnam. With many similarities and exchanges in politics, economy, culture and society, the people of the two countries (especially in the border areas) have often relied on each other, helping and supporting each other in daily life, as well as in times of natural disasters and enemies.

In particular, since the birth and wise leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, later the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, that close relationship has continuously developed.

The good, loyal and pure traditional relationship between the people of Vietnam and Laos, founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong and cultivated by President Souphanouvong under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party throughout history, has become a priceless asset of the two peoples and a common development rule of the two countries on the path to developing a prosperous country and a happy and prosperous people.

Historical reality shows that in every victory, every milestone on the glorious revolutionary journey of Vietnam and Laos, there is a strong mark of mutual support and assistance between the people of the two countries. The brotherhood and solidarity of the people of the two countries in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today is one of the most vivid manifestations of the great and special friendship between the two countries.

Over the decades, the Vietnam - Laos relationship has continued to be consolidated and developed increasingly deeply, practically and effectively in all fields, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability, socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and security in each country. Thereby contributing to enhancing the position of the two Parties and two countries; actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Over the past years, the two sides have effectively implemented the Agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two States; the Agreements, arrangements, and cooperation plans between the two Governments as well as the agreements and cooperation programs between departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations, and localities of the two countries.

The close and trustworthy political relationship continues to be strengthened, playing a core role in guiding the overall relationship between the two countries. Defense, security and foreign affairs cooperation continues to be maintained, being important pillars in the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos. Meanwhile, economic, cultural, education - training, and scientific - technological cooperation has seen positive changes. Cooperation in other fields continues to be promoted with increasing effectiveness.

The spirit of solidarity and important achievements in the Vietnam - Laos relationship not only facilitate the renovation, socio-economic development, national construction and protection in each country, consolidating the position and strength of each country, but also contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Looking back on the past, Vietnam and Laos are always proud of the special relationship, "both comrades and brothers" between the two countries. The loyal and pure relationship between the two Parties and the two countries has become an exemplary and rare relationship in the world, as President Kaysone Phomvihane once affirmed: "In the history of world revolutions, there have been shining examples of proletarian internationalism, but nowhere and never before has there been such a special, long-lasting, and comprehensive solidarity and fighting alliance". And the people of the two countries today always remember, inherit and nurture the solidarity between Laos and Vietnam to be forever green and everlasting./.
