(baosonla.gov.vn) - The Son La Provincial Song and Dance Theatre is a professional art unit of the province. Besides performing arts for political events in the province, the Theatre also effectively carries out foreign relations through programs, events, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic activities between Son La and provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, contributing to fostering the special solidarity and friendship that will "forever flourish and endure" between the two countries and two peoples.

The art program "Love Song of Son La - Hua Phan" was performed by the Provincial Song and Dance Theatre.
One of the prominent foreign affairs events organized by Son La province in 2024 was the "Son La - Hua Phan Cultural Tourism Festival," held in March. Besides promoting and developing tourism, Son La also left a deep impression on delegates and the people of Laos through the highlight of the artistic program "Son La - Hua Phan Love Song," performed jointly by artists and performers from the Son La and Hua Phan Provincial Music and Dance Theatres. The artistic performances, deeply rooted in the cultural identities of Vietnam and Laos, blended together to create a unique and vibrant artistic space, celebrating the close ties between the two provinces over the years.
Meritorious Artist Doan The Hung, Director of the Son La Provincial Music and Dance Theatre, said: "Over the years, our unit has had the honor of being assigned by the province to organize artistic performances at many major foreign affairs events, especially those in neighboring Laos. Before each program, we spend time researching and learning about the culture and customs of the people of our neighboring province, from which we develop script ideas, select performances, design the stage and costumes, and organize thorough rehearsals. The goal is to convey to the audience the most beautiful and representative images of the land, culture, and people, praising the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries and two peoples."
In 2022, the art programs “The Epic of Son La - Luang Prabang” and “The Beauty of Son La - Luang Prabang,” organized to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022), were a prominent highlight in the province's foreign relations activities. Over two nights of performances, artists from the Provincial Song and Dance Theatre brought many unique and meaningful artistic performances to the ancient capital of Laos. Most impressive was the performance of the Lam Vong dance combined with the Thai Xoe dance, creating a vibrant cultural tapestry of friendship.
Artist Khanh Hoa, Deputy Head of the Performance Organization Department, Son La National Opera and Ballet Theatre, shared: "Each artistic performance in Laos is meticulously invested in terms of content and artistry, helping Lao audiences feel a sense of closeness to the cultural similarities between the two countries. Furthermore, each artist and performer from the theatre, when participating in performances in Laos, plays the role of a cultural and tourism 'ambassador,' spreading a beautiful image of Son La's land and people to the public."
The art programs of Son La province have left a positive impression and earned the affection of the people of Laos. Cultural cooperation and exchange between Son La and the northern provinces of Laos have been extremely important, continuing the valuable material and spiritual heritage that the two countries have shared throughout history. Furthermore, through participation in diplomatic programs and events in the provinces of Laos, the Son La Provincial Song and Dance Theatre has gained valuable artistic material from Lao culture, enabling it to create new, high-quality works.
