Art program "Son La - Hua Phan Love Song" performed by the Provincial Music and Dance Theater.

One of the outstanding foreign affairs events organized by Son La province in 2024 is the "Son La - Hua Phan Cultural Tourism Festival" taking place in March. In addition to tourism promotion and cooperation activities, Son La also left a deep impression on delegates and people of Laos through the highlight of the art program "Son La - Hua Phan Love Song" performed by a group of artists and actors from the Son La Provincial Music and Dance Theater and Hua Phan Province. The art performances are imbued with the cultural identities of Vietnam and Laos, blending together to create a unique artistic space, imbued with friendship; praising the tradition of close ties between the two provinces over the years.

Meritorious Artist Doan The Hung, Director of Son La Province's Music and Dance Theater, said: In recent years, the unit has been honored to be assigned by the province to organize art performances at many major foreign events of the province, especially performances in Laos. Before each program, we spend time researching and learning about the culture and customs of the people of the neighboring province, from which we develop script ideas, select performances, design stages, costumes and organize thorough rehearsals. The goal is to convey to the audience the most beautiful and typical images of the land, culture and people, praising the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries and two peoples.

In 2022, the art program "Son La - Luang Prabang Epic" and "Son La - Luang Prabang Fragrance" were held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022), which is also a highlight in the province's foreign affairs activities. During the 2 nights of performance, the artists of the Provincial Music and Dance Theater brought to the ancient capital of Laos many unique and meaningful art performances. The most impressive was the Lam Vong dance performance combined with Thai Xoe, creating a cultural picture imbued with friendship.

Artist Khanh Hoa, Deputy Head of the Performance Organization Department, Song and Dance Theater, shared: Each art performance program in the neighboring country is invested very carefully in terms of content and art, helping Lao audiences feel the closeness with the cultural similarities between the two countries. In addition, each artist and actor of the Theater when participating in performances in the neighboring country plays the role of a cultural and tourism "ambassador", spreading the beautiful image of the land and people of Son La to the public.

The art programs of Son La province have left good impressions and love in the hearts of the people of Laos. The cooperation and cultural exchange activities between Son La and the northern provinces of Laos in recent times have been of great significance, continuing the good heritage both materially and spiritually that the two countries have carried out throughout history. At the same time, also from participating in diplomatic programs and events in the provinces of Laos, the Son La Provincial Music and Dance Theater has more materials about art in Lao culture, from which to create new, quality works.
