(vov.gov.vn) - In recent years, the ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Son La province have undergone many changes. The lives of the people have improved significantly, the poverty rate has decreased rapidly and sustainably, currently standing at only 14.1%; and the national unity bloc has been built even more firmly.
During the period 2024-2029, Son La province will continue to focus resources on comprehensive socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas. The goal is to increase the average income of ethnic minorities by more than double by 2029 compared to 2024; reduce the multidimensional poverty rate among ethnic minorities to below 10%; and achieve a rate of over 50% of the working-age population receiving vocational training relevant to their needs and conditions, and earning a stable income.

Son La strives to ensure that 100% of communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have sufficient infrastructure to meet the requirements of socio-economic development and people's lives; and that 60% of communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas achieve new rural standards by 2029...
These are the specific goals for implementing ethnic affairs work in Son La province during the 2024-2029 period, which will be discussed and agreed upon at the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minority Representatives of Son La province in 2024.
According to the plan, the Congress will take place on September 17th and 18th, with the theme "Ethnic groups unite, innovate, and create; leverage advantages and potential, integrate, and work together to build Son La province into a green, rapidly developing, and sustainable province."

The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minority Representatives of Son La Province in 2024 will take place on September 17th and 18th.
It is expected that more than 330 delegates will attend the Congress, including representatives of outstanding individuals and exemplary figures from 11 ethnic minority groups in Son La province.
The Congress will summarize and evaluate the results of implementing ethnic affairs work, ethnic policies, infrastructure development, poverty reduction, and new rural construction... during the period 2019-2024. It will also serve as a forum for exchange, learning, and sharing experiences among ethnic groups. It will honor, commend, and reward outstanding collectives and individuals among ethnic minorities in Son La province during the period of integration and development.
