On September 14th, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and his delegation inspected the damage and recovery efforts following the impact of Typhoon No. 3; visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to households affected by floods and disadvantaged students in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district; and worked with Son La province on disaster prevention, control, and recovery.

Due to the impact of typhoon No. 3, Muong La district has 1 missing person; 90 houses affected, including 2 houses completely swept away by floods, 1 house completely buried, 48 houses requiring emergency relocation, 4 houses inundated with mud and rocks, 39 houses at high risk of landslides, and 1 temporary shelter completely swept away.
In addition, the floods submerged and buried more than 169 hectares of rice fields; 5.25 hectares of fish ponds; and 20 hectares of corn fields. Approximately 1,800 cubic meters of soil and rocks buried the roadbed of Route 279D. Furthermore, flash floods destroyed many inter-communal and inter-village roads; damaged two overflow bridges; and swept away two suspension bridges...
Ngoc Chien commune in Muong La district suffered the most severe damage after the recent natural disaster. The impact of typhoon No. 3 caused heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, and mudslides, resulting in one person missing; 40 houses affected; 150 hectares of rice and crops flooded and buried under mud and rocks; 5 hectares of fish ponds damaged; and many roads and bridges damaged or destroyed in the area.

After inspecting the situation in Ngoc Chien commune and listening to reports from local leaders on the damage caused by the floods and the efforts to mitigate its consequences, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Nguyen Trong Nghia, extended his condolences, encouragement, and support to the households affected by the natural disaster; hoping that the affected households would strive to overcome the consequences, surmount difficulties, and stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
To help households overcome immediate difficulties, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department and the delegation presented 25 gift packages to families affected by Typhoon No. 3, each containing 1 million VND in cash and a bag of essential goods; and 25 gift packages to disadvantaged students, each containing 1 million VND in cash and a bag of cakes and candies for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
* Following an on-site inspection in Ngoc Chien commune, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department and the delegation worked with Son La province on disaster prevention, control, and mitigation efforts.
During the meeting, the leaders of Son La province reported on the results of the work on preventing, responding to, and mitigating the consequences of floods caused by the remnants of typhoons No. 2 and No. 3 in the province.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department acknowledged the proactive spirit and readiness of the leaders and functional forces of Son La province in responding to and overcoming natural disasters and floods; thereby contributing to minimizing damage to people and property.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department suggested that Son La province, having done well in the past, should continue to improve its performance according to the "four on-the-spot" principle, closely monitoring the flood situation; effectively implementing solutions to relocate people in areas at risk of landslides and flooding to safe places. At the same time, the province should take measures to support people in overcoming the consequences of the floods; do a good job of environmental sanitation and disease prevention after the floods; have plans to support people in restoring production and stabilizing their lives as soon as possible; and help and create the best conditions for students to return to school and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival...
On this occasion, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Nguyen Trong Nghia, and the delegation presented Son La province with 800 million VND to help overcome the consequences of the floods.
