The leaders of Son La province have requested the Government and relevant ministries and agencies to pay attention to and provide financial support for disaster relief efforts. Initially, they request support for resources for 10 projects to resettle people from high-risk areas, who have already been moved to temporary shelters, community centers, or relatives' homes.
This morning (September 14th), Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with a delegation, inspected the damage and recovery efforts following the heavy rains and floods caused by the remnants of Typhoon No. 3 in Son La province.

In Ngoc Chien commune, one person is currently missing due to the flood; 40 houses have been affected; 150 hectares of rice and crops have been flooded and buried under mud and rocks; many roads and bridges in the area have been damaged or affected by landslides…
Ms. Vang Thi Khua, a resident of Ngoc Chien commune, said: "Now we have no house to live in, the flood swept everything away, all our clothes were gone, we only managed to escape."

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, visited, encouraged, and presented 50 gifts to families affected by natural disasters in Ngoc Chien commune. He also commended and acknowledged the proactive spirit of the local Party committee and government in responding to the unusual developments of Typhoon No. 3 and the subsequent floods, contributing to minimizing damage to people and property.

The Head of the Central Propaganda Department also requested Son La to continue mobilizing the entire political system to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters: “The province needs to continue searching for and rescuing missing persons; supporting and caring for people in need. Pay attention to post-storm stabilization, including living conditions, healthcare, and disease control. At the same time, continue to promote the spirit of mutual assistance and help fellow citizens.”

Son La province suffered consecutive damage from typhoons No. 2 and No. 3. According to the provincial report, floods and landslides caused 12 deaths, 1 missing person, and 7 injuries; more than 3,700 houses were damaged; over 6,000 hectares of rice, vegetables, and crops were damaged; and electricity, roads, and schools were damaged in many places… The estimated damage is over 610 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, said: "The difficulties for Son La are arranging stable housing for residents in disaster-stricken areas, such as selecting locations and land for relocation to ensure safety and prevent further landslides. Secondly, it involves the customs and traditions of the local people. Thirdly, it requires a huge amount of resources; the province has had to review and cut other resources to focus on disaster prevention and control."
