To promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, in 2022, the Standing Committee of the Sop Cop District Party Committee selected and registered the model "All citizens participate in protecting the border and boundary markers" in Nam Lanh commune as a typical model at the district level for widespread implementation.
Officers and soldiers of the Nam Lanh Border Guard Post, along with militia members, protect the border marker.
Comrade Quang Van Tieu, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, said: The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has directed the Party Committee of Nam Lanh commune to thoroughly understand and effectively implement the model according to the objectives and guiding principles in Directive No. 01/CT-TTg dated January 9, 2015, of the Prime Minister on organizing the movement of all people participating in protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in the new situation.
The Party Committee of Nam Lanh commune organized the dissemination and implementation of the directive from the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee to the commune's departments, agencies, mass organizations, and subordinate Party branches regarding the "All People Participate in Protecting Border Markers" model in Keo Vai village; promptly issued leadership and guidance documents for implementation; and assigned political and social organizations to develop action programs to implement the model as directed. The People's Committee of the commune coordinated with the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, and the Nam Lanh Border Guard Post to organize the implementation and concretize the directives, plans, and guidelines from higher levels regarding the implementation of the model, ensuring timeliness and effectiveness.
Comrade Vi Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, informed: Border guards and other organizations have actively gone down to each village, meeting with each household to mobilize and propagate the responsibility of each citizen in protecting the border and boundary markers. Immediately after building the model, in just 4 months, the commune's Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and political and social organizations, and affiliated Party branches coordinated with the Nam Lanh Border Guard Post to organize 12 sessions to disseminate and explain the directives of the higher-level Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee on the work of protecting the border and boundary markers to nearly 1,000 participants.
From 2022 to the present, the commune has established two "Border Marker Self-Management Teams" in Keo Vai and Huoi Hia villages, and eleven "Solidarity Teams for Ensuring Security and Order" in all eleven villages; currently, all teams are operating stably and effectively. For example, in Keo Vai village, since the model was implemented, the villagers have voluntarily participated in border patrols alongside the border guard forces, undeterred by difficulties and hardships.
Patrols through the forest, along the border markers, have become a weekly routine for the villagers here. Village head Vu A Nenh shared: "Following President Ho Chi Minh's example, we know we must unite and protect the land and borders of our homeland. If each person contributes a small part, the country will be strong."
The Nam Lanh Border Guard Station manages and protects over 25 km of border, encompassing 33 villages and 1 residential cluster in the two communes of Nam Lanh and Muong Va. Over the past period, the Party Committee and the Station's Command have led and directed efforts to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work among the local population to ensure compliance with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, border agreements and conventions, and the policies of the local government.
Lieutenant Colonel Lo Van Binh, Political Officer of the Nam Lanh Border Guard Station, said: "Since the beginning of the year, the unit has organized 20 direct propaganda sessions for over 2,000 listeners; conducted 120 hours of mobile propaganda in border villages; participated in consolidating the political base at 7 grassroots Party branches; assigned 17 Party members to be in charge of 35 disadvantaged households; the people have contributed hundreds of man-days clearing the border and border markers, and provided hundreds of valuable pieces of information to serve the work of border management and protection and the fight against various types of crime..."
The model of "All citizens participating in protecting the border and boundary markers" in Nam Lanh commune has been widely implemented by the Standing Committee of the Sop Cop District Party Committee, contributing to the creation of a solid wall along the border and demonstrating the determination in fulfilling the local political tasks.
