(CL&CS) - In 2024, Mai Son district continued to evaluate 8 OCOP products, including: Tan Nhe Muong Chanh sticky rice; macadamia wine; whole bean coffee, ground coffee, and coffee in tea bags; fermented soybean paste; frozen vegetable soybeans; Ichi Farm special strawberries; Delica macadamia nuts; and Khanh Thanh sticky rice cake. Participants in the OCOP program have improved their skills and capabilities; the quality of OCOP products ensures food safety and environmental protection.
The OCOP program has had a positive impact, contributing to the transformation of agricultural production structure from small-scale to value chain-linked production, ensuring product quality and meeting stringent standards and regulations in demanding markets.

Many products in Mai Son district, Son La province have been recognized under the OCOP program.
To date, Mai Son district, Son La province, has formed concentrated agricultural production areas with a total cultivated area of 45,394 hectares, including 14,762 hectares of food crops and vegetables; 19,132 hectares of industrial crops; and 11,500 hectares of fruit trees...
The entire district also has 3 high-tech agricultural zones, including: 2 high-tech coffee production zones with 1,039.5 hectares and 1,560 participating households; 1 high-tech custard apple production zone of 334.2 hectares with 166 participating households; 1,143.7 hectares have been granted VietGAP certification; 1,217.2 hectares of fruit trees have been granted 46 planting zone codes, and 5 packaging facilities serving export have been granted to eligible businesses and cooperatives for export to the US, Australia, New Zealand, China, etc. These are favorable conditions for Mai Son district to develop many OCOP products.
Ara-Tay Coffee Cooperative, established at the end of 2019 with 14 members, has, after more than 5 years, partnered with 300 coffee-growing households to convert 70 hectares to organic production. Recognizing the quality of its Natural roasted coffee and Honey roasted coffee products, the cooperative received advice from specialized units at the district and provincial levels to refine its business plan and product brand identity. By 2023, two of the cooperative's products had been awarded 4-star OCOP product quality.
Ms. Cam Thi Mon, Director of the Cooperative, said: "After receiving OCOP certification, the products have seen growth in revenue and profit, created jobs, and increased people's income. Each year, the cooperative sells 8-10 tons of green and ground coffee beans to the market; supplying and creating a distinctive product line for coffee shops in Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide, which is well received by consumers."
The cooperative's annual revenue reaches approximately 1.6 billion VND. To further affirm the quality of its OCOP products, the cooperative has built a production workshop, equipped with fruit washing machines, coffee brewing machines, packaging and product packing machines; and two modern hulling machines using wet processing technology, which helps preserve the natural flavor of the coffee and saves water.
To date, Mai Son district has 20 products recognized under the OCOP program, including 10 products achieving 3-star rating and 10 products achieving 4-star rating. These products are diverse, such as: Nguyen Phong dried longan; Quang Vinh sacha inchi seeds; macadamia nuts; cordyceps mushrooms; A3 roasted and ground coffee; shiitake mushrooms; strawberries; Dai Son custard apples; Bao Tin honey; Binh Minh bamboo straws; Queenpearl pearls; reishi mushrooms; dried dragon fruit; coffee; Ngoc Linh ginseng extract; Ngoc Linh ginseng wine, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Hao, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Mai Son district, said: To date, 20 OCOP products from the district have been listed on the electronic trading platform and electronic portal managed by the Department of Industry and Trade, on the provincial OCOP program website, and on the social media pages of businesses and organizations; promoting and advertising local OCOP products at fairs and exhibitions, participating in product displays and introductions... As a result, OCOP products are more highly valued by consumers and have affirmed their position in the market.
In the coming period, along with encouraging individuals and organizations to actively participate in the OCOP program, Mai Son district will promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in communication, building dossiers and managing data for OCOP products; strengthen the development of new products along the chain from production to processing and consumption; consolidate and improve the quality of certified OCOP products..., contributing to the successful achievement of the district's socio-economic development goals.
