Over the past period, political and border security have been maintained and stabilized. The police forces of the three districts of Moc Chau, Van Ho, and Sop Bau have seriously implemented the Memorandum of Understanding; coordinated well in ensuring security and order along the border and at border gates, protecting the safety of national border markers; regularly exchanged information and documents related to the national security of Vietnam and Laos; promoted exchange activities, learning from experience; strengthened coordination in monitoring the situation and promptly resolving information, preventing unexpected incidents; and expanded international cooperation activities in drug prevention and control... In 2023 and the first six months of 2024, 111 cases involving 128 offenders were detected in the border area. This included 105 cases involving 119 individuals committing drug-related offenses, with seized evidence including over 79.48 grams of heroin, nearly 57,000 synthetic drug pills, over 989 grams of methamphetamine, and other related items. Police forces in the three districts also apprehended and persuaded two wanted fugitives hiding in the border area to surrender.

At the conference, the police forces of the three districts signed a memorandum of understanding to better coordinate their efforts in the future. This includes focusing on implementing the signed memorandum; maintaining regular meetings; organizing training and practical professional development for the functional forces of Sop Bau district; strengthening the dissemination of legal education to the people of both countries in the border area; and continuing to coordinate basic investigations along the border and drug smuggling routes into Sop Bau district in particular, and all three districts in general.
