Implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Police of the three districts of Moc Chau - Van Ho (Son La province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and Sop Bau district (Hua Phan province, Lao PDR), on September 18, Moc Chau district Police chaired a meeting between the Police of the three districts on coordination to ensure security and order and prevent cross-border crimes in 2024.
In recent times, the political security and border security situation has been maintained and stable. The police of the three districts of Moc Chau - Van Ho - Sop Bau have seriously implemented the Memorandum of Understanding; coordinated well in ensuring security and order at the border, border gates, and protecting the safety of national border markers; Regularly exchanged information with each other; Promoted exchange activities, sharing and learning experiences; strengthened coordination to grasp the situation, promptly handle information, and prevent unexpected incidents from occurring; expanded international cooperation activities on drug prevention and control... In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, 111 cases with 128 criminals were detected in the border area. Of these, there were 105 cases, 119 subjects committing drug crimes, with evidence seized of over 79.48 grams of heroin, nearly 57,000 synthetic drug pills, over 989 grams of crystal meth and many related evidences. The police force of 3 districts also arrested and mobilized 2 especially wanted subjects hiding in the border area.
At the conference, the police of the three districts signed a memorandum of understanding to better coordinate work in the coming time. Therein, focusing on implementing the signed memorandum of understanding; maintaining regular meetings; organizing training and fostering practical skills for the functional forces of Sop Bau district; Strengthening the dissemination and education of law to the people of the two countries in the border areas; Continuing to coordinate basic investigations along the border and drug smuggling routes into the districts./.
