(baosonla.org.vn) - Striving to complete the 2024 target of reaching 96.1% of the population in the area with health insurance coverage, on July 15, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee sent an open letter to all levels, sectors, agencies, units, and enterprises, calling for the purchase of health insurance cards to give to people in difficult circumstances. After 2 months of implementation, the donation to buy health insurance cards has spread widely, receiving active response from localities, agencies, units, and enterprises in the province.

By the end of July, the whole province had 1,251,911 people participating in health insurance, the coverage rate reached 95.3% of the population. Thus, there are still over 60,000 people who do not have health insurance cards; many of whom are in difficult circumstances, have just escaped poverty... With the goal of "Leaving no one behind", the Provincial People's Committee calls for the generosity of units, businesses, and philanthropists to join hands; agencies and units mobilize cadres, civil servants, and public employees to each donate at least 1 health insurance card to people in difficult circumstances who are not supported by the state budget.
In Thuan Chau district, the district Social Insurance has advised the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee to issue a document calling on organizations, individuals, and businesses and assigning targets to local units to socialize the donation of health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances. Mr. Tong Van Thang, Director of the district Social Insurance, shared: In 2 months, in the district, 5 agencies and units have donated more than 110 million VND. Currently, the district Social Insurance is continuing to call for socialization to buy health insurance cards; coordinating with the district Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, People's Committees of communes and towns to review and select disadvantaged people who are not granted health insurance cards by the State to propose to the provincial Social Insurance to buy and give.
Thuan Chau District Medical Center is one of the units actively raising funds to support the purchase of health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances. Mr. Quang Van Chau, Director of the Center, said: Immediately after receiving the open letter, 229 officials, civil servants, and employees of the Center and medical stations donated more than 86 million VND; many of them donated 2 health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances, the disadvantaged and those who do not have health insurance cards, to join hands to help people receive the best health care.
The donation to buy health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances has also been actively responded by the provincial departments and branches. Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Court, said: The unit has mobilized officials and civil servants of the Provincial People's Court and districts and cities to support the purchase of 210 health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances, with a total amount of nearly 80 million VND. Of which, the Chief Justice of the Provincial People's Court alone donated 50 health insurance cards.
As a unit directly advising the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies in the area, the Provincial Social Insurance has established and maintained the "Savings for Health Insurance Cards" Fund. At the same time, it directs the Social Insurance of districts to advise local Party committees and authorities to issue documents calling on organizations, individuals and businesses to participate in supporting the purchase of health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances in the area.
Mr. Dinh Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Social Insurance, said: With the spirit of mutual love, sharing risks between the healthy and the sick, between the young and the old, between the high-income earners and the low-income earners, the Provincial Social Insurance has launched a campaign for each cadre and civil servant to contribute at least 50,000 VND per month to the "Savings for Health Insurance Cards" Fund. Along with that, directing specialized departments to actively mobilize agencies, units, organizations, individuals and businesses to join hands to contribute to buying health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances.
After 2 months of responding to the open letter of the Provincial People's Committee, up to now, the whole province has had 60 agencies and units donate 620 million VND to the Provincial Social Insurance Agency to buy health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances who are not supported by the state budget. In particular, the units with high donations are Thuan Chau District Medical Center; Provincial People's Court; Son La College; Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital and Provincial Social Insurance... Currently, the Provincial Social Insurance is coordinating with relevant departments, branches and districts and cities to advise the Provincial People's Committee to allocate the donated money to buy health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances. In particular, priority is given to communes striving to complete the criteria to meet the new rural standards and people in difficult circumstances who are not supported by the state and provincial budget to buy health insurance.
The movement to buy health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances has been actively responded to by Party committees, authorities at all levels, agencies, units and enterprises in the province, contributing to the completion of the health insurance coverage target and towards universal health insurance, so that everyone is protected, cared for, and has their health reduced when they are unfortunately sick, ill or have an accident.
