Tourism product development continues to focus on the province's distinctive tourism products, while actively promoting cultural and historical tourism, community tourism, and improving the quality of culinary services, contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the destination.
In addition, Son La province is actively promoting tourism information and advertising to create effectiveness and widespread dissemination of Son La's tourism image to tourists, with a focus on promoting the application of information technology to bring tourism activities to media outlets and social networks, ensuring high reach.
Simultaneously, the province organized numerous tourism events connected with culture over the past nine months, including successful tourism promotion and marketing activities, the announcement of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Decision recognizing Moc Chau National Tourist Area, the organization of the "Son La - Hua Phan Cultural Tourism Festival 2024" in Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, the issuance of the 2024 Tourism Promotion and Marketing Plan, the 2024 Cooperation Plan for Tourism Development among the 8 provinces of the Northwest region and Ho Chi Minh City, and the recognition of two provincial-level tourist destinations.
As a result, in the first nine months of the year, the total number of tourists visiting Son La reached over 3.8 million, a decrease of 6%; revenue is estimated at approximately 4,565 billion VND, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year.
In 2024, Son La aims to welcome approximately 5.5 million tourists for sightseeing and relaxation, striving to achieve revenue exceeding 5,500 billion VND.
To achieve the above objectives, localities have been implementing numerous policies to promote tourism, based on their potential and advantages, creating an attraction for tourists. Emphasis is placed on strengthening close cooperation between localities, tourism businesses, and travel agencies to promote and market tourism, researching solutions to both maintain traditional tourist markets and target markets in the central and southern provinces, as well as international tourists.
Tourism products are regularly maintained and innovated, and the cultural identity of ethnic groups is promoted through promotional conferences, media platforms, and social networks, fostering the development of green and digital tourism for sustainable development with community participation in the development of tourism and tourism products in Son La province.
