On September 28, Major General Hoang Huu Chien, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard, inspected the preparations for the 2nd Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program taking place in the border area of Moc Chau district (Son La province, Vietnam) and Sop Bau district (Hua Phan province, Laos). The delegation also included the heads of the General Staff, Departments and Command of the Son La Border Guard.

The 2nd Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange is scheduled to be held on October 22-23 in Moc Chau District (Son La Province, Vietnam) and Sop Bau District (Hua Phan Province, Laos). Senior representatives of the Government, Ministry of Defense, ministries and sectors of the two countries will participate in the main events.
Within the framework of the program, many activities took place in the border areas of the two countries such as: Exchange of young officers of the Vietnam - Laos Army; joint patrols; coordination in catching transnational drug criminals; talks between the delegations of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam - Laos; medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine to ethnic minorities; awarding scholarships to poor students living on both sides of the border; giving breeding cows to poor households...

The second Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange is an opportunity to contribute to fostering the close relationship between the two countries, especially the people in the border areas of the two countries, while promoting the sense of responsibility of the border protection forces of the two countries in performing the tasks of coordinating the management and protection of the border and landmarks; fighting against crimes, helping people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, building a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and mutually developing Vietnam - Laos border.

Implementing the working program, Major General Hoang Huu Chien and the working delegation directly inspected the preparation work of the forces at the Long Sap border gate area, Long Sap border gate Border Guard Station, Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, and Vietnam - Laos Border Military-Civilian Friendship Medical Station, where the activities in the program will take place.
Major General Hoang Huu Chien also inspected the training and practice of the forces participating in serving the reception of high-ranking delegations of the two countries' armies attending the event; bilateral patrol training; and joint training to combat and prevent cross-border drug crimes.

At the meeting to conclude and draw lessons from the inspection, Major General Hoang Huu Chien praised the units under the General Staff, the Departments and agencies of the Border Guard Command, and the Son La Border Guard for closely coordinating with local authorities to overcome unfavorable weather conditions to basically complete the preparation work for the program.
On behalf of the inspection team, the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard pointed out the limitations and requested agencies and units to continue to overcome and improve so that the contents take place as planned, ensuring the program's success.
