With the theme "Developing a reading culture to promote lifelong learning," the Lifelong Learning Week takes place from October 1st to 7th. To build and develop a reading culture, the city is implementing many community bookshelf models, developing "Houses of Wisdom," "Humanitarian Libraries," along with policies encouraging participation in the learning family, learning clan, learning community, learning unit, and learning society movements.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Cong Chinh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, emphasized: The Lifelong Learning Week is not only an opportunity to honor the value of knowledge and learning, but also a chance to highlight the role of reading culture – an indispensable element in building a learning society and developing well-rounded individuals. Reading culture has become a habit and passion for all citizens, and in this year's Lifelong Learning Week, everyone should work together to further awaken and promote the spirit of eagerness to learn and encourage the habit of reading among every citizen. Teachers and parents should be shining examples in reading and learning, guiding students to appreciate books, explore, and learn through each page. The City People's Committee will continue to promote the program of building "houses of wisdom" and "compassionate libraries" in villages, hamlets, and schools... This contributes to fulfilling the criteria for Son La city to soon receive the UNESCO "Global Learning City" award in the 2025-2030 period.
