(sonla.gov.vn) On October 3, 2024, Son La province held a conference to review the first three years of implementing Conclusion No. 94-KL/TU dated January 23, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee on the development of tourism in Son La province until 2025, with a vision to 2030. Comrades Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, co-chaired the conference.
Also attending were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, agencies and districts and cities in the province.

To concretize the implementation of Conclusion No. 94-KL/TU dated January 23, 2021, of the Son La Provincial Party Committee on the development of tourism in Son La province until 2025, with orientation to 2030, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, relevant departments, agencies, and units, as well as the District Party Committees, City Party Committees, and People's Committees of districts and cities, have all issued documents to implement it.

Over the three years since the implementation of Conclusion No. 94-KL/TU, the awareness of all levels, sectors, officials, and the people regarding the position and role of the tourism industry has been raised, and there has been effort and determination to develop the province's tourism industry comprehensively and effectively. To date, two major goals identified in the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025, have been completed one year ahead of schedule: Moc Chau National Tourist Area has been officially recognized under the Law on Tourism and selected by the World Travel Awards as the "World's Leading Regional Natural Destination"; and the Son La hydroelectric reservoir area has been officially included in the national tourism system plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045. Tourism infrastructure has received significant investment in a synchronized manner, especially the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway section through Son La province; infrastructure projects such as main roads, internal roads, electricity, parks, and squares have been prioritized, with concentrated efforts to mobilize capital. Investment attraction efforts have been intensified from 2021 to July 2024. There are 13 investment projects in the fields of tourism, services, trade, and agriculture with a registered capital of 14,515 billion VND. Many tourism products have been formed and developed in conjunction with ecology, agriculture, and culture, meeting the trends and needs of tourists, with 5 main groups of tourism products.

To date, Son La has 12 recognized tourist areas and destinations. The quality of human resources in tourism and tourism services is gradually improving, meeting the requirements of tourism development..To date, the total number of direct employees in the tourism sector is estimated at 6,500 people, of which about 60% have received training. From 2021 to September 2024, Son La is expected to receive over 12 million tourists, generating 12,600 billion VND in tourism revenue; experiencing rapid and stable growth at 13% per year. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, Son La is projected to receive nearly 4 million tourists, generating an estimated 4.5 trillion VND in revenue and creating jobs for over 6,000 people.

At the conference, in addition to highlighting achievements, delegates also discussed and clarified existing shortcomings and limitations such as: limited infrastructure serving tourism development; ineffective tourism promotion and advertising through media, social networks, and digital technology... They also proposed many ideas such as: strengthening state management; addressing difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for tourism projects to become operational soon…

Concluding the conference, Comrade Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that tourism plays a very important role in the socio-economic development of the province. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee acknowledged and commended the results and achievements attained after three years of implementing Conclusion No. 94 on the development of tourism in Son La province until 2025 and orientation until 2030. To continue building on the achievements; overcome existing shortcomings and limitations; and resolve the difficulties and obstacles mentioned above, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee directed: Continue to thoroughly understand and implement Conclusion No. 94 on the development of tourism in Son La province until 2025 and orientation until 2030, in conjunction with socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the northern mountainous midland region. Building on the achievements, focusing on overcoming existing shortcomings and limitations, promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles related to planning, land clearance, investment in construction, and attracting investment; developing tasks and solutions appropriate to the practical conditions of the locality, agency, and unit to develop tourism in a focused and targeted direction with the motto "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized, and friendly destination".
Leveraging the province's cultural and agricultural advantages to develop diverse, unique, and attractive tourism products, with a focus on preserving and promoting tangible and intangible cultural values associated with tourism development; implementing agricultural tourism development programs. Strengthening promotional activities, building the brand and image of Son La tourism. Prioritizing resources for digital transformation, leveraging the role and strengths of information technology and modern media. Improving the quality of human resources in tourism. Continuing to effectively implement the emulation movement "Son La develops sustainable tourism and integration" for the period 2023-2025, promptly commending and encouraging exemplary individuals and advanced models in tourism development in Son La province.
