Up to now, 02 major goals identified in the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, have been completed and reached the finish line 1 year ahead of schedule: Moc Chau National Tourist Area was officially recognized according to the provisions of the Law on Tourism and was voted by the World Travel Awards as the World's Leading Regional Natural Destination"; The Son La hydropower reservoir area has been officially included in the national tourism system planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045. Tourism infrastructure has been invested in a synchronous manner, especially the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway, the section through Son La province; infrastructure works such as main roads, internal roads, electricity, parks, squares, etc. are prioritized, focusing on mobilizing capital sources. Investment attraction has been promoted from 2021 to July 2024, with 13 investment projects in the fields of tourism, services, trade, and agriculture with a registered capital of 14,515 billion VND. Many tourism products have been formed and developed in association with ecology, agriculture and culture to meet the trends and needs of tourists, with 05 main tourism product groups.

From 2021 to September 2024, the number of tourists coming to Son La will reach more than 12 million, revenue from tourism activities will reach 12,600 billion VND; growing rapidly and stably at 13%/year. Of which, in the first 9 months of 2024, the number of visitors to Son La will reach nearly 4 million, revenue is estimated at 4.5 trillion VND; creating jobs for over 6,000 people.
