After one week (from October 1-7) of launching the "Week of Promoting Lifelong Learning 2024," the city and its communes, wards, and schools have developed plans and organized many meaningful and practical activities such as: book fairs, introducing new books, creating spaces for interaction between authors and readers, promoting reading culture; writing, drawing, and storytelling competitions based on books and newspapers, stimulating creativity and a love for reading; workshops to share experiences; art exhibitions and book displays at the Ho Chi Minh Fish Pond area, Northwest Square, etc.

The "Son La - My Beloved Global Learning City" competition, with the theme "Lifelong Learning and Climate Change," received 290 entries, including: 8 songs; 62 poems; 179 paintings; and 41 solutions and initiatives to combat climate change and environmental degradation. The entries were highly praised for their artistic merit, aesthetics, creativity, and impactful influence.

At the closing ceremony, Comrade Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and businesses in the city donated 2,100 books to 21 "Houses of Wisdom," with 100 books per "House of Wisdom."

At the closing ceremony, delegates interacted with education expert Tong Lien Anh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Lifelong Learning, on the topic of "Developing a reading culture to promote lifelong learning." On this occasion, expert Tong Lien Anh presented gifts, including an education package through art and music for children in Son La city, worth 300 million VND, from the Finland-Vietnam Education Cooperation Company.

The organizing committee awarded one A prize in the painting category to Pham Kim Bang from the Son La Provincial Film and Culture Center for his work "Youth of Son La City Responding to 'Son La - My Beloved Global Learning Week'"; six B prizes, six C prizes, and 22 consolation prizes were awarded to authors with outstanding works participating in the "Son La - My Beloved Global Learning City" competition in various categories.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Comrade Ha Trung Chien acknowledged and highly appreciated the quality of the competition; each song, poem, initiative, and painting participating in the competition was a meaningful work for the propaganda and promotion of lifelong learning. He suggested that, through various solutions, the Houses of Wisdom should organize activities effectively, promoting reading culture among the people; and that the members of the Steering Committee for the Global Learning City should, according to their functions and duties, effectively implement the plan they have committed to the Steering Committee, determined to help Son La city soon achieve the UNESCO "Global Learning City" award.
