Bac Yen District (Son La Province) has a climate and soil suitable for the growth of hawthorn trees (wild apples). In recent years, the District People's Committee has reviewed, improved, and crossbred hawthorn varieties, aiming to form concentrated raw material areas in the highland communes of Ta Xua, Lang Cheu, Xim Vang, Hang Chu, and Hang Dong, gradually making hawthorn a key crop, with the goal of expanding the area and improving the quality and value of hawthorn fruit and products.
Currently, Bac Yen district has about 2,600 hectares of hawthorn trees, of which more than 1,500 hectares are ready for harvest, with an estimated yield of about 1,900 tons per year.
