At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong stated that Son La currently has over 3,660 businesses with a total registered capital of over 77,000 billion VND. Although significant progress has been made, Son La's businesses are primarily small and micro-enterprises, with an imbalance in the proportion of businesses across different sectors. Furthermore, there are not many businesses with deep processing capabilities, and not many branded products on the market. Given these limitations, Son La province hopes to receive support and experience sharing from the Thanh Hoa provincial leadership and relevant departments and agencies regarding the implementation of policies to attract investment, develop businesses and cooperatives; build and implement industrial clusters; and establish supply chains to connect production and consumption, promoting exports, especially for agricultural products with competitive advantages in Son La province.

Next, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, provided an overview of the development scale of businesses in Thanh Hoa province; the policies that Thanh Hoa province is implementing to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) such as capital, institutions, administrative reform, the implementation of support activities for promotion and digital transformation; and the contributions of the business community to the development goals of Thanh Hoa province. He also affirmed that Thanh Hoa always considers businesses as the foundation and driving force of the economy. Therefore, the government always accompanies and guides SMEs; directs all levels and sectors to formulate policies, create a legal framework, and address difficulties in accessing production resources such as capital and land; establishes startup funds; develops business development plans; and resolves difficulties and obstacles for businesses to develop production and business. Thanh Hoa province will support and create favorable conditions for businesses in Son La province to connect with and access the large consumer market in Thanh Hoa, as well as coordinate with Thanh Hoa businesses to link deep processing chains, strengthen promotion, and aim for export to increase the value of goods.

During the working session, leaders of the two provinces and their respective departments and agencies discussed and exchanged experiences in developing industrial clusters; implementing policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises; and sharing experiences and effectiveness in implementing investment connection and trade promotion programs. They also agreed on Son La province's proposal to organize a product exhibition and introduction program in Thanh Hoa in the fourth quarter of 2024.
