(trangtraiviet.danviet.vn) - The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union recently had a working session with the People's Committee of Son La province on promoting and consuming agricultural products and organizing the Son La Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi.
Son La agricultural products are rich in variety and diverse in design.
Attending the meeting, on behalf of the Central Association, there were: Comrade Pham Tien Nam, Vice President of the Central Farmers' Association; representatives of the Central Association's Economic Department; Center for Farmers and Rural Support. On behalf of the delegation of Son La province, there were: Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade; Farmers' Association; Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of the province.
To date, Son La province has over 83,757 hectares of fruit trees, of which 63,207 hectares are harvested, with an output of over 379,000 tons. To preserve agricultural products for a long time, increase product value and serve exports, the province has increased investment, supported and promoted the development of 17 factories and 543 agricultural processing facilities.

The province's processed industrial products are increasingly diverse, rich, high-quality and stylish. The whole province has 154 OCOP products, of which 1 product has achieved 5 stars; 56 products have achieved 4 stars and 97 products have achieved 3 stars... The value of processed products has been significantly increased, and has been well received by domestic and foreign consumers.
Notable products include tea, coffee, milk, tapioca starch, sugar, dried fruit... Of which, coffee has been exported to Germany, Malaysia; tea to Japan, Taiwan, Afghanistan; tapioca starch to China, Canada; longan to China, Korea.

Promote agricultural product consumption
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the organization of Son La Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi in November 2024; the organization of providing agricultural products and OCOP products of Son La province at the exhibition booth at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. In addition, Son La province proposed that the Central Committee of the Union support the venue and mobilize Farmers' Unions of the Northern and North Central provinces and cities to participate in the Son La Agricultural Products Week event in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa province.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union requested the People’s Committee of Son La province to provide information on new and newly processed agricultural products of the province, in order to diversify the products on display. At the same time, share information on the quality requirements of agricultural products of some markets in the Middle East, East Asia and Europe. Thereby, helping Son La province to orient the production of products suitable to the needs of the markets, promoting exports.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong requested that the provincial departments and branches continue to closely coordinate with the departments and units of the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union to effectively implement the annual signed coordination program. Regarding the Son La Agricultural Products Week event in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa, he hoped that this would be an opportunity to connect Son La's agricultural products with the provinces and cities participating in the event. Opening up cooperation opportunities, bringing Son La's agricultural products to the markets of provinces and cities nationwide.
Concluding the meeting, comrade Pham Tien Nam requested the Economic Committee to continue reviewing and effectively implementing the contents of the coordination program; the Center for Supporting Farmers and Rural Areas to continue coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism of Son La province to unify the contents of coordination according to the province's proposal.
