(trangtraiviet.danviet.vn) - The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association recently held a working session with the People's Committee of Son La province regarding the promotion and consumption of agricultural products and the organization of the Son La Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi.
Agricultural products from Son La are abundant in variety and diverse in design.
Attending the working session, on the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association were: Comrade Pham Tien Nam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association; representatives from the Central Economic Committee; and the Center for Supporting Farmers and Rural Areas. On the Son La provincial delegation were: Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from the Department of Industry and Trade; the Farmers' Association; and the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion.
To date, Son La province has over 83,757 hectares of fruit trees, of which 63,207 hectares are in production, yielding over 379,000 tons. To preserve agricultural products for longer periods, increase product value, and facilitate exports, the province has intensified investment, support, and development of 17 factories and 543 agricultural processing facilities.

The province's processed industrial products are becoming increasingly diverse, abundant, high-quality, and well-designed. The province has 154 OCOP products, including 1 product achieving 5 stars; 56 products achieving 4 stars; and 97 products achieving 3 stars... The value of processed products has significantly increased and is well-received by domestic and international consumers.
Notable products include tea, coffee, milk, cassava starch, sugar, and dried fruits. Specifically, coffee has been exported to Germany and Malaysia; tea to Japan, Taiwan, and Afghanistan; cassava starch to China and Canada; and dried longan to China and South Korea.

Boosting agricultural product consumption
During the meeting, the two sides discussed organizing the Son La Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi in November 2024; and organizing the supply of agricultural products and OCOP products from Son La province at the exhibition booth at the headquarters of the Vietnam Farmers' Association. In addition, Son La province requested the Central Association to support the venue and mobilize Farmers' Associations from provinces and cities in the North and North Central regions to participate in the Son La Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa province.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association requested the People's Committee of Son La province to provide information on new and newly processed agricultural products from the province, in order to diversify the products on display. At the same time, they requested information on the quality requirements of agricultural products in the markets of several countries in the Middle East, East Asia, and Europe. This would help Son La province orient its production to meet the needs of these markets and boost exports.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong requested that the provincial departments and agencies continue to closely coordinate with the committees and units of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association to effectively implement the cooperation program that has been signed annually. Regarding the Son La Province Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa, he hoped that this would be an opportunity to connect Son La's agricultural products with those of the participating provinces and cities, opening up opportunities for cooperation and bringing Son La's agricultural products to markets in provinces and cities nationwide.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Pham Tien Nam requested the Economic Committee to continue reviewing and effectively implementing the contents of the cooperation program; the Center for Supporting Farmers and Rural Areas should continue to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of Son La province to finalize the cooperation contents as proposed by the province.
