(sonla.gov.vn) From September 16th to 19th, 2023, Vietnam participated in the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO 2023) and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS 2023) in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China. The CAEXPO was not only an important economic and political event in multilateral cooperation between China and ASEAN, but also brought practical benefits to promoting and developing economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China and ASEAN countries, as well as to Vietnamese businesses participating in the Expo.
Vietnam's booth was the second largest among the participating countries at CAEXPO 2023.
The CAEXPO 2023 trade fair featured a total of 5,400 booths, representing 1,953 businesses from 46 countries. Of these, ASEAN countries and other participating nations accounted for over 1,500 booths from 644 businesses. According to the Organizing Committee's statistics, the total number of trade visitors and transactions at the fair was estimated at over 150,000. The fair welcomed 104 official business delegations from 18 countries and territories, including 55 international delegations. More than 70 trade sessions and trade promotion activities were organized, resulting in 30 businesses signing deals.
Vietnam's national pavilion, themed "Beautiful City," at this fair was elaborately constructed on an area of 180m2, focusing on promoting the unique characteristics and products of Son La province in particular and the development and tourism potential of the Northwest region of Vietnam in general, with the theme: "Vietnam - Son La - Center for Clean Agricultural Products." Along with artistic performances showcasing the rich cultural identity of the ethnic groups of the Northwest region of Vietnam throughout the fair, it attracted a large number of international visitors and the Chinese public, especially many high-level delegations from ASEAN countries and China.
The national booth with the theme "Beautiful Cities" of Vietnam, represented by Son La province, created a unique and attractive atmosphere.
The Vietnamese business delegation, comprising over 120 enterprises from more than 20 provinces and cities nationwide, displayed 200 booths across an area of over 4,000 square meters. The participating businesses belonged to sectors with potential and strengths for Vietnamese exports, such as agricultural products, processed foods, consumer goods, handicrafts, and wooden furniture. The Vietnamese delegation continued to be the second largest among participating countries at CAEXPO 2023 (after host country China).
According to preliminary reports from Vietnamese businesses and the Fair Organizing Committee, during the Fair, the Vietnamese pavilion welcomed approximately 55,000 visitors, including Chinese and international businesses and members of the public, for transactions and sightseeing. The total value of trade transactions, contracts signed, and sales at the Fair exceeded US$50 million. In particular, the Vietnamese National Pavilion, themed "Beautiful City," effectively promoted the specialties of Son La province and many unique features of the mountains, forests, and ethnic cultures of the Northwest region, creating a distinctive appeal and significant attraction.

At the conclusion of CAEXPO 2023, Vietnam was honored to receive three important awards from the Organizing Committee: Best Country for Organizing Exhibited Businesses at the Fair; Best Country for Organizing Business Visits and Transactions at the Fair; and Best Country for Designing and Organizing the National Pavilion with the theme "Beautiful City".
