At the meeting, Son La Provincial Party Committee reported to the Minister of National Defense and the working delegation on the results of implementing the tasks of socio-economic development; strengthening national defense and security; building the Party and consolidating the political system of the province in the past time. Notably, it has led and directed the implementation of 3 national target programs in the area; prioritized resources to focus on building Son La province into a center for high-tech agricultural development; a center for agricultural processing, a center for milk, fruits, medicinal plants and a tourism center of the Northwest region. Actively implementing key traffic projects in the province; focusing on prevention, response and overcoming the consequences of floods. The economy has grown quite well; the scale of the economy has increased steadily over the years; the economic structure continues to shift positively, in the right direction and in line with the economic development goals of the province.

Pay attention to the work of building the Party and the political system; maintain the principles of leadership, high solidarity and unity, strictly implement regulations on setting examples, especially the heads of Party committees, authorities and organizations. The management and operation capacity of authorities at all levels is increasingly improved. The work of protecting internal politics, mass mobilization work, activities of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations continue to be innovated, close to the grassroots and effective.

Pay attention to leadership and direction to strengthen propaganda to raise awareness for cadres, party members and people of all walks of life about the important strategic position in the field of national defense and security. Do a good job of summarizing the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee, 11th tenure on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation; review 5 years of implementing Decree No. 21/2019/ND-CP dated February 22, 2019 of the Government on defense zones... Closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense, direct forces to actively and proactively do a good job of preparing to organize the 2nd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

The Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his opinion at the meeting.

The Minister of National Defense highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province have strived to achieve in all fields. Analyzing the advantages and difficulties that the country is facing with the task of building and protecting the Fatherland, he suggested that the Son La Provincial Party Committee continue to pay attention to leading and directing the implementation of the work of building and rectifying the Party and a clean and strong political system; focusing on remote, isolated areas, areas important to national defense, and newly arranged and adjusted areas in the province.

Continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW dated February 10, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development orientations, ensuring national defense and security in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region to 2030, with a vision to 2045. Focus on implementing the planning of Son La province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Effectively implement national target programs, especially the socio-economic development program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Improve the quality of education and training in national defense and security for all subjects. Take care to build a strong and comprehensive provincial armed force, ready to fight, capable of responding promptly and effectively to situations, not being passive or surprised. Pay attention to consolidating, building and improving the quality of activities of military party cells in communes, wards and towns. Closely combine socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security, creating a stable and favorable environment for local socio-economic development.

Actively cooperate and link regions; better carry out foreign affairs, especially with Laos, to build a peaceful, stable, cooperative and sustainably developed border area. Timely handle complicated issues of security, order, fight against crime, especially drug crimes and human trafficking, to maintain stability in the area.

Also at the Conference, the Minister of National Defense answered the proposals and recommendations of the Son La Provincial Party Committee related to military and defense work on mechanisms and policies; construction investment; and investment in equipment for the provincial armed forces.
