After more than three years of implementing the National Target Program 1719, Son La province has achieved and exceeded its socio-economic targets. The province has basically solved the shortage of residential land for 179 households and production land for 239 ethnic minority households; successfully supported job connections for 20,722 workers; supported vocational training for 3,107 workers from poor and near-poor households in the province; and created conditions for 30 workers from poor districts to work abroad under contracts.
By the end of 2023, the average income of ethnic minorities in Son La province will reach 21.68 million VND/person; the poverty rate of the province will decrease by an average of over 3%/year, currently at 14.41%; 97.55% of communes and 72.81% of villages will have car roads to the center; 72.1% of schools, classrooms and medical stations will be solidly built; 94.6% of households will have access to the national grid and other suitable electricity sources; 97.5% of ethnic minority households will have access to clean water for daily use.
In 2024, the total State budget capital to implement the 3 National Target Programs of Son La province is more than 3,454 billion VND. Of which, the capital transferred from 2023 is nearly 1,192 billion VND.
According to Mr. Luong Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Son La province, the unit is continuing to advise the People's Committee of Son La province to propose and recommend to the Central Government to remove difficulties and obstacles, promote production development, exploit potentials and advantages, innovate, increase income, and stabilize the lives of ethnic minorities. Son La province strives to reduce the poverty rate in poor districts by 4-5% per year by 2025; have at least 1 district removed from the list of poor districts; reduce 4-5% of poor and near-poor households in extremely disadvantaged communes each year, and have 44% of communes in ethnic minority areas meet new rural standards.
