(sonla.gov.vn) Coffee has long been a key crop, bringing economic benefits and attracting tens of thousands of farming households in Son La. To date, the province has over 20,000 hectares of coffee, with an estimated annual production of 40,000-50,000 tons of beans. To honor the coffee plant and coffee growers, and to celebrate the 128th anniversary of the founding of Son La province (October 10, 1895 - October 10, 2023) and the 15th anniversary of the founding of Son La city (October 26, 2008 - October 26, 2023), Son La province will solemnly organize the first Son La Coffee Festival from October 20th to October 23rd, 2023.
The first Son La Coffee Festival in 2023 will be held from October 20th to October 23rd, 2023.
The festival will include events such as: a trade fair with the theme "Son La Coffee - Integration and Development," showcasing the province's socio-economic development achievements; coffee products from within and outside the province; tourism products; products from sponsors; safe agricultural products from Son La province and other provinces and cities; ornamental plants; and products and spaces showcasing handcrafted coffee. A workshop on improving the quality of Son La coffee, themed "Sustainable Coffee Production," will be held to exchange solutions for improving the quality of Son La Arabica coffee; an announcement of high-tech coffee production areas; and the awarding of investment approval decisions and the acceptance of investors for the Son La Arabica coffee planting project. A coffee product trade networking conference will provide specific information about Son La coffee products to domestic and international consumers and businesses for research, understanding, connection, consumption, and export. Facilitating exchange and trade connections between coffee producers, processors, and exporters in Son La and domestic and international coffee consumers and importers; Signing contracts, cooperation agreements, and memoranda of understanding.
The series of events within the framework of the first Son La Coffee Festival in 2023 aims to promote Son La coffee products.
And activities include the inauguration of investment projects in the coffee sector; an exhibition of beautiful photos of Son La coffee - themed "Son La Coffee - The Journey to Building a Brand"; a farmers' talent competition; a coffee gala; and the organization of experiential and exploratory coffee tourism tours.
Particularly at the opening ceremony themed "Arabica Son La - The Flavor of the Northwest Mountains," held at Northwest Square, there will be the participation of Party and State leaders, a spectacular welcoming art program, and a solidarity circle dance with the participation of a large number of people.
Through a series of events within the framework of the first Son La Coffee Festival in 2023, the aim is to promote Son La coffee, develop high-quality coffee, contribute to enhancing its value, and affirm the position of Son La coffee in domestic and international markets; to honor coffee growers, producers, processors, and traders, and to encourage the community to work together to cultivate the development of coffee culture in Son La province in particular and Vietnam in general.
The festival will feature participation from businesses both within and outside the province.
Simultaneously, the project aims to showcase the unique coffee culture, people, potential, strengths, and tourism of the province, creating a friendly and hospitable image of Son La to attract investors and tourists. It also seeks to boost production, connect supply and demand, promote innovation, increase income, and stabilize the lives of ethnic minorities and people in mountainous areas. Furthermore, it aims to foster entrepreneurship and business startups, supporting the economic restructuring process towards increasing the proportion of goods and services in particularly disadvantaged communes inhabited by ethnic minorities, based on the potential, strengths, and available resources of the locality.
