On November 1, at Vincom Plaza Commercial Center, Son La City, the People's Committee of Son La Province and the Vietnam Fine Arts Association opened the 29th Fine Arts Exhibition of Northwest Region III - Viet Bac, 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Trang Thi Xuan, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; painter Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association; leaders of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Union of Literature and Arts of 15 provinces and more than 200 artists and painters whose works won awards and were displayed at the exhibition.

The exhibition showcased 213 works of art by 206 artists from the following provinces: Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Son La. Of which, Son La province had 13 works by 13 artists. The works of art were presented in many forms such as: oil paintings, lacquer paintings, wood carvings, portraits, ceramics, and reliefs. Each work vividly expressed content through artistic perspectives on life, culture, and people of the Northwest and Viet Bac.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, comrade Trang Thi Xuan emphasized: This is the third time that Son La province has had the honor to host the Fine Arts Exhibition of the Northwest Region III - Viet Bac; the works at this exhibition have diverse and open creative themes, with many different perspectives and feelings of each artist, meeting the demands of modern life and the public's enjoyment needs, especially the themes of history, revolutionary war and current issues of the country, the industrialization and modernization, the construction and protection of the Fatherland, the protection of the homeland's sea and islands...

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the A prize to artist Lo An Quang, member of the Son La Province Literature and Arts Association; awarded 1 B prize, 1 C prize, and 8 Encouragement prizes to the winning authors.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association announced 6 authors and works introduced by the art council to continue participating in the Award of the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Fine Arts" Medal to 11 individuals who have made many positive contributions to the development of the fine arts sector; awarded certificates of merit from the Vietnam Fine Arts Association to 3 groups of Son La province. At the same time, the rotating flag to host the 30th Northwest - Viet Bac Regional Fine Arts Exhibition in 2025 was awarded to Dien Bien province.

The 29th Fine Arts Exhibition of the Northwest Region III - Viet Bac will take place from November 1 to November 5. This is an opportunity to introduce to the people and those who are passionate about painting to have more understanding about literature and art in general and fine arts in particular; promote the creativity of the team of painters, members, and collaborators in the fine arts sector; create conditions for the development of fine arts activities in the region. Through the works, it reflects the good traditional cultural values, the economic and social achievements of the homeland and the country, contributing to the promotion and development of tourism.
