On November 1st, at Vincom Plaza shopping center in the city, the People's Committee of Son La province and the Vietnam Fine Arts Association inaugurated the 29th Northwest - Viet Bac Region III Fine Arts Exhibition, 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Trang Thi Xuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; artist Luong Xuan Doan, President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association; leaders of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of 15 provinces; and more than 200 artists and painters whose works won awards and were displayed at the exhibition.
The President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association delivered the opening speech for the exhibition.
The exhibition showcased 213 artworks by 206 artists from the provinces of Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, and Son La. Of these, Son La province contributed 13 works by 13 artists. The artworks were presented in various forms such as oil paintings, lacquer paintings, wood carvings, portrait sculptures, ceramics, and reliefs. Each piece vividly expressed its content through artistic perspectives on the life, culture, and people of the Northwest and Northeast regions of Vietnam.
Comrade Trang Thi Xuan delivered a speech at the exhibition.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Trang Thi Xuan emphasized: This is the third time Son La province has had the honor of hosting the Northwest - Viet Bac Region III Fine Arts Exhibition; the works at this exhibition have diverse and broad themes, with many different perspectives and feelings of each artist, meeting the demands of modern life and the needs of the public, especially themes about history, revolutionary war and current issues of the country, industrialization and modernization, building and defending the Fatherland, protecting the sea and islands of the homeland...

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the A prize to artist Lo An Quang, a member of the Son La Provincial Association of Literature and Arts; and awarded 1 B prize, 1 C prize, and 8 Consolation prizes to the winning authors.

The Organizing Committee presents the Young Artist Award of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association announced the six authors and works recommended by the art council to continue participating in the Award of the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Associations of Literature and Arts; awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Fine Arts" commemorative medal to 11 individuals who have made many positive contributions to the development of the fine arts field; and presented certificates of merit from the Vietnam Fine Arts Association to three collectives in Son La province. At the same time, the rotating flag for hosting the 30th Northwest-Viet Bac Region III Fine Arts Exhibition in 2025 was handed over to Dien Bien province.

The 29th Northwest-Northwest Region III Fine Arts Exhibition will take place from November 1st to 5th. This is an opportunity to introduce to the public and art enthusiasts a deeper understanding of literature and art in general, and fine arts in particular; to promote the creativity of artists, members, and collaborators in the fine arts sector; and to create conditions for the development of fine arts activities in the region. Through works reflecting the beautiful traditional cultural values and socio-economic achievements of the homeland, it will contribute to promoting and developing tourism.
