On October 13th, in Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, the delegation of Son La Provincial Police, led by Major General Nguyen Ngoc Van, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of Son La Provincial Police, and the delegation of Luang Prabang Provincial Police, led by Colonel Tu Song Patchai, Director of Luang Prabang Provincial Police, held talks on cooperation in ensuring security and order, and border security in 2022, and agreed on directions for coordination in 2023.

Over the past period, the police forces of the two provinces have strengthened coordination and information exchange to ensure security and order, prevent and combat crime, prevent and control epidemics, and build a peaceful, stable, friendly, and developing border. Both sides have jointly assessed the situation and proposed many measures to address issues related to various types of crime, especially drug-related crimes, criminal offenses, human trafficking, and illegal emigration.
During the talks, the two sides agreed on the content of future cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on coordinating efforts to ensure security, order, and border security in 2023.
