For the 2024-2025 academic year, Son La College has been assigned by the Son La Provincial People's Committee to provide Vietnamese language training for 297 students from 9 provinces in Northern Laos. This includes 121 students who are officials from various departments, agencies, and armed forces, and 176 students in a preparatory Vietnamese language program. After completing the program and receiving a Vietnamese language certificate according to the 6-level Vietnamese language proficiency framework for foreigners, these students will be considered for admission to specialized programs at Son La College or other universities, colleges, and vocational schools in Son La province.

From 2001 to the present, Son La College has organized 23 preparatory Vietnamese language training courses for international students and 14 Vietnamese language training courses for officials from 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a total of over 3,620 international students. During their Vietnamese language studies, the officials and international students participate in cultural and sports activities; visit and study historical sites and scenic spots in Son La province and some locations throughout Vietnam to enhance their understanding of Vietnamese culture and people.
