In the 2024-2025 school year, Son La College was assigned by the People's Committee of Son La province to receive and train Vietnamese for 297 international students from 9 northern Lao provinces. Of these, 121 international students are officials of departments, branches, armed forces and 176 international students are studying preparatory Vietnamese. After completing the program and being granted a Vietnamese language certificate according to the 6-level Vietnamese language proficiency framework for foreigners, the international students will be considered for admission to majors at Son La College or universities, colleges, and intermediate schools in Son La province.

From 2001 to present, Son La College has organized 23 Vietnamese language preparatory courses for international students and 14 Vietnamese language training courses for officials from 9 provinces of Lao PDR with a total of over 3,620 international students. During the process of learning Vietnamese, officials and international students will participate in cultural and sports activities; visit and study historical sites and scenic spots in Son La province and some places in Vietnam to enhance their understanding of Vietnamese culture and people./.
