Implementing the memorandum of understanding between the Veterans Association of Son La province. and Hiep On the morning of November 13, 2024, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Veterans Association of Luang Prabang Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the Veterans Association of Son La Province. The delegation from the Luang Prabang Veterans Association, led by Lieutenant Colonel Xay Phon Khom A Lun, a member of the Executive Committee of the National Veterans Association of Laos and Chairman of the Luang Prabang Veterans Association, visited and worked with the Son La Provincial Veterans Association from November 12 to 14, 2024.
Receiving and working with the delegation were Comrade Mui Anh Tien, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Comrade Hoang Manh Long, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association, along with other comrades in the Standing Committee and the Executive Board of the Provincial Veterans Association.
During the talks, both sides informed each other about the socio-economic development and defense and security situation of their respective provinces; exchanged experiences in building and operating the Veterans' Association; discussed poverty alleviation efforts among veteran members in both provinces; coordinated efforts to educate cadres and members about the comprehensive solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, the two States, and the Veterans' Association; and exchanged information on the search for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, civilian workers, and military experts who died in Luang Prabang province.
During their visit to Son La province, the delegation from the Luang Prabang Veterans Association laid wreaths at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Northwest Square; offered incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple; offered incense and flowers at the Son La Prison Martyrs Memorial; paid a courtesy visit to the Provincial Border Guard Command; and visited the central market and VIMCOM Plaza supermarket in the city.
The delegation from the Luang Prabang Provincial Veterans Association acknowledged, highly appreciated, and thanked the Son La Provincial Veterans Association for the warm, respectful, and thoughtful reception; and thanked the agencies, units, officials, soldiers, and people of Son La and the places the delegation visited for their kind sentiments. They affirmed that the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, Laos and Vietnam, Son La and Luang Prabang, and the close ties between the two associations are being increasingly strengthened and developed.
