The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the meeting.
In recent times, the two sides have done a good job of advising competent authorities to effectively implement policies and plans to maintain political security and social order and safety in the border area; in which, focusing on coordination between the two sides' forces in ensuring border security; coordinating the fight against all types of crimes related to the two sides of the border. Proactively exchanging news and information on security and order and social order and safety; focusing on criminal activities, especially drug crimes related to the two sides' borders. In 2024, the two sides exchanged 12 pieces of news on political security; the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command directed the Muong Leo Border Guard Station to coordinate with the Phon Thong District Police, Luang Prabang Province (Laos) to arrest 1 case, 1 subject of drug crimes, seizing 2,158 synthetic drug pills, over 22 million Lao Kip.
The coordination in fighting cases has strengthened the trust of the people on both sides of the border with the authorities. At the same time, it demonstrates the correctness of the policy of cooperation in crime prevention and control between Vietnam and Laos; further affirming the solidarity and close relationship between the two forces in the fight against crime, especially cross-border drug crimes...
