On November 21, 2024, the working delegation led by Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi, together with General Director of the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) Nguyen Duc Thien, had a working session with the People's Committee of Son La province. The meeting focused on assessing the results of ensuring electricity supply for socio-economic development and social security in the area, and discussed the implementation of Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee and Plan No. 19-KH/TW of the Politburo.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.

Implementing the work of ensuring electricity supply, currently, the province's electricity outputSon Lamainly from hydropower sources and a very small part of rooftop solar power and biomass power. The whole province has 60 hydropower plants in operation with a total capacity of over 3,790 MW, accounting for 16.86% of the total hydropower capacity of the country. It is expected that in 2024, the total electricity output in the province will reach about 14 billion kWh. Son La province alone is supplied with electricity from the national grid through 02 220kV transformer stations and distributed through 08 110kV transformer stations to 12 districts and cities, connected to the 110kV grid of Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Dien Bien provinces with the support of 21 small hydropower plants connected to the medium voltage grid, the power supply is always guaranteed to be stable.

Since 2021, Son La province has implemented the "Sub-project on Rural Electricity Supply from the National Grid for the period 2021-2025", with a total investment of 420 billion VND, aiming to safely provide electricity to about 13,500 households. As a result, the rate of villages and hamlets with electricity has increased from 98.21% (in 2021) to 99.91% (in 2024). Currently, there are only two villages without electricity: Pha Din (Mai Son district) and Ta Lat (Song Ma district). Son La Provincial People's Committee has sent a document proposing to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to invest from the Vietnam - EU Sustainable Energy Transition Program.
Speaking at the meeting, General Director Nguyen Duc Thien said: The CorporationNorthern Electricitycontinue to make efforts to ensure stable electricity supply, contributing positively to the sustainable development of Son La province. At the same time, he proposed that Son La province closely coordinate in planning, site clearance and development of power grid infrastructure as well as create favorable conditions for implementing investment and construction projects to meet the increasing demand for electricity and ensure long-term energy security.

On the same day, General Director Nguyen Duc Thien and professional departments had a working session with Son La Power Company (PC Son La) on the results of production and business tasks in 2024 and the plan for 2025.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Tran Duy Trinh - Director of PC Son La affirmed that the company always ensures safe and stable electricity supply for 12 districts and cities in the area, even in the conditions of natural disasters, storms and floods. The company has effectively implemented digital transformation solutions, improving customer service quality and reliability in electricity supply.
At the meeting, the General Director of EVNNPC acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Son La Power Company in ensuring stable power supply, meeting the needs of socio-economic development and daily life of people in the province.

General Director Nguyen Duc Thien also requested Son La Power Company to deploy a number of key tasks that need to be focused on in the coming time. In particular, special attention should be paid to solutions to successfully complete the production and business tasks in 2024. The Company needs to develop plans and closely coordinate with relevant departments, branches and sectors to ensure safe and stable power supply to serve Party Congresses at all levels, while also preparing for the power supply plan during the hot season of 2025 and the following years.
