The Son La Coffee Processing Plant commenced construction in July 2023. It comprises two processing lines: a wet milling technology using water-saving, recirculating technology, and a closed, dust-free dry milling technology. The plant includes: a wet coffee processing workshop; a green coffee bean processing workshop; an office building; an environmental treatment facility management building; an environmental treatment system; and a drying yard. With a total capacity of 50,000 tons of fresh coffee cherries per year, equivalent to 12,500 tons of green coffee beans per year, the plant is expected to stabilize output for coffee growers, link production, processing, consumption, and export in Son La in particular and the Northwest region in general, and create more jobs for local workers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that, in implementing the policy of sustainable coffee development, the Son La Provincial People's Committee and Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company organized the inauguration and commissioning of the Son La Coffee Processing Plant in Mai Son district, Son La province.
This project aligns with the province's socio-economic development orientation and priority investment areas for the 2020-2025 period. The inauguration and operation of the Son La Coffee Processing Plant is clear evidence of putting the Party's guidelines and the State's policies into practice; it is expected to bring significant benefits to investors, address challenges and shortcomings in the province's coffee development, contribute to increasing the province's industrial production value and export value, create more jobs and income for local workers, contribute to the state budget, and promote the province's socio-economic development. It will create conditions for coffee-growing households, businesses, and cooperatives to connect in a sustainable coffee production and consumption chain; linking production, processing, consumption, and export, bringing high economic efficiency to farmers. To ensure the efficient operation of the Son La Coffee Processing Plant, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee requested the Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company to focus its resources on operating the plant according to the approved plan, ensuring quality and progress as committed, and complying with all legal regulations.
