(sonlatv.vn) - On October 24th, the People's Committee of Son La province issued Decision No. 2219 recognizing high-tech mango production areas in Hat Lot town and in Hat Lot and Chieng Mung communes of Mai Son district. This brings great joy to mango growers, creating motivation for people to promote the application of science and technology in production, improving the quality and value of mangoes.
In recent days, the story of Hat Lot commune's 269.4 hectares of mango orchards being recognized as a high-tech mango growing area has been discussed with joy and excitement among the local people. This is a source of pride and joy after years of effort in caring for and improving the quality of mangoes, which have now been recognized by the State and the market.
Mr. NGUYEN NGOC DUNG – Director of Ngoc Lan Cooperative, Hat Lot Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province:Personally, I and other mango growers in Hat Lot commune are very happy because this opens up opportunities for convenient production and consumption, and more broadly, provides an opportunity for people to get rich from mango cultivation. Not only the cooperative but also the local mango growers are constantly learning and applying technology such as pruning, using fertilizers and pesticides correctly, and bagging the fruit to protect it from pests and diseases.
Having been involved in mango cultivation for many years, Mrs. Luong's family has witnessed periods when mango prices soared to 18-20 thousand VND/kg, but also plummeted to as low as 1-2 thousand VND/kg. However, her family remains determined to maintain and care for nearly 2 hectares of mango trees using high-tech methods. These include automated irrigation, fruit bagging, pruning, and canopy shaping. The recognition of this high-tech mango growing area is a huge motivation for mango growers like Mrs. Luong to continue caring for and improving the quality of their mangoes.
Ms. NGUYEN THI LUONG – Na Cang 2 Hamlet, Hat Lot Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province:Our greatest wish as farmers is that in the coming years, the mango harvest will be bountiful and the prices good, and that the mangoes will be exported to many places. We are very happy and will try our best to take care of the mango trees to achieve the highest possible yield.
According to Decision 2219 of the Provincial People's Committee, the high-tech mango growing area in Mai Son district includes Ngoc Lan Cooperative and 9 household groups in Hat Lot town and Hat Lot and Chieng Mung communes, with a total mango area of 399.3 hectares. In Hat Lot commune alone, the high-tech mango growing area is 269.4 hectares. This once again affirms and acknowledges that the farming skills of the people have been raised to a new level, contributing to improving the productivity, quality, and value of mangoes; meeting the standards of domestic and international markets.
Mr. TONG VAN TAM – Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hat Lot Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province:The mango growing area applies scientific and technological methods to mango cultivation to achieve high yields and quality. To maintain the application of high-tech methods and expand the model to increase the planted area, the local Party committee and government continue to coordinate with the Mai Son District Agricultural Service Center and agricultural extension officers to educate the people on proper mango tree care.
With 924 hectares of mango orchards currently in operation, Hat Lot commune and its mango growers are determined to maintain 269.4 hectares of high-tech mango cultivation, promoting the application of science, technology, and advanced techniques in production; gradually affirming the quality, value, and brand of Mai Son mangoes in the market, contributing to increasing the value of cultivation and the income of the people.
