On the morning of November 24, the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteers and Military Experts Helping Laos in Son La province held a ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the tradition of Vietnamese Volunteers and Military Experts Helping the Lao Revolution (October 30, 1949 - October 30, 2024) and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Liaison Committee of Son La Volunteers (2014 - 2024). Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association; over 400 delegates representing the Vietnamese volunteer forces in Son La province helping Laos, along with cadres and students from the northern provinces of Laos studying in Son La province.
At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the formation, development and special friendship tradition of the Vietnamese volunteer army and military experts helping Laos. Accordingly, on October 30, 1949, the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party decided to establish "Vietnamese military forces assigned to perform international missions in Laos" named the Vietnamese Volunteer Army.
After 10 years of establishment, the Son La Provincial Volunteer Liaison Committee has gathered generations of veterans who participated in international missions in Laos to help poor members improve their lives and develop their family economy. Organized visits to old battlefields; raised money to support books and school supplies for 50 Lao students in border provinces and Lao students with difficult circumstances studying in Son La province. Up to now, the whole province has 69 commune and ward liaison committees.
Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts in Son La province have made many contributions to supporting Laos in building political bases, revolutionary bases, consolidating armed forces and developing people's war to meet the requirements of national liberation resistance. The glorious and heroic historical tradition of generations of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts performing international missions in Laos continues to be preserved, promoted and passed on to the younger generation to build and nurture the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos to be forever green and everlasting.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Hong Minh acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Liaison Committee over the past 10 years. He also asked members of the Liaison Committee of Son La Province Volunteers to uphold the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, unite and help each other, step by step to build a prosperous life. Continue to be the connecting thread, further tightening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, between Son La Province and the people of Lao ethnic groups./.
