In 2024, the Border Guard Commands of Son La and Dien Bien provinces and the border protection forces of Phong Sa Ly and Luang Prabang provinces will regularly maintain and implement the two signed legal documents on the border and the memorandums of understanding of the talks; closely coordinate in implementing measures to manage and protect the common border, maintain coordination in managing, handling and promptly resolving issues and events related to the border and in the fight against all types of crimes... Actively coordinate in propagating and mobilizing people in the border area to comply with the Protocol and Agreement on the Regulations on Land Border Management between Vietnam and Laos as well as the laws of each side. Maintain a good relationship of special friendship, promptly exchange information on issues related to border management and protection, ensure security and order in the border area, contributing to building a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developed border.

Since the beginning of the year, Muong Leo Border Guard Station, Son La Provincial Border Guard, has coordinated with Border Guard Company 161, Luong Pha Bang Provincial Military Command to organize 2 regular meetings, 20 information exchanges via hotline, and 7 bilateral patrols. Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command has organized 7 talks, 29 unscheduled exchanges, 121 exchanges via hotline; Border Guard stations have coordinated with Border Guard companies of Phong Sa Ly and Luong Pha Bang provinces to organize 20 bilateral patrols.

The two sides’ forces coordinated to organize 158 propaganda and education sessions for people in the border areas with 1,757 participants. They discovered and caught red-handed 5 cases, 6 Lao citizens involved in drugs, seized 66,000 synthetic drug pills, 35 grams of heroin, 1 flintlock gun, 10 kg of opium and many other exhibits…

At the talks, the two sides determined that in the coming time, they will continue to strengthen the dissemination of policies and laws of the two Parties and States. Regularly inform each other about the situation related to security and order in the border areas. Strengthen the direction of border protection forces at the station, station level and border guard companies and platoons to maintain regular meetings, exchanges of experience and information on border protection management. Strengthen friendly exchange activities on the occasion of traditional holidays, New Year, the anniversary of the founding of the force and important holidays of the two sides.
