According to Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 issued by the National Assembly Standing Committee on November 14, 2024, Moc Chau district will be officially upgraded to a town, with a natural area of ​​1,072.09 km² and a population of more than 148,000 people. Moc Chau town will include 15 commune-level administrative units: 8 wards and 7 communes, promising a dynamic and modern urban appearance in the heart of the plateau.

Son La Provincial People's Committee has just held a meeting and agreed to organize a ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town on January 18, 2025.

To prepare for this important event, an important meeting chaired by Mr. Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, was held. The meeting focused on completing the organization of the ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town, including the entire program, script, special art program, brilliant fireworks display, thoughtful reception work, and a plan to widely disseminate to the people.

The ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town is expected to take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 18, 2025 at 8/5 Square, Moc Chau town. The program will be designed to be grand, combining the solemn ceremony and the vibrant festival, with the highlight being the brilliant fireworks display.
