The historical relic of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment in sub-region 12, Moc Chau town, Moc Chau district, was the gathering point for Tay Tien troops from the lowlands and then spread out to the Northwest fronts and the Vietnam - Laos border. The first Tay Tien unit was the National Guard Company commanded by comrades Anh De, Tuan Son, and Lam Ngoc, who brought troops from Hanoi to Moc Chau.

On October 12, 1945, after receiving instructions from the Party Central Committee, the 52nd Tay Tien Battalion turned to Laos to carry out its international obligations. On October 22, 1945, the 52nd Tay Tien Battalion liberated Sam Neua and drove the enemy back to Xieng Khouang. Comrade Tran Duy Phien's company was ordered to advance to Son La provincial capital in late October 1945. Faced with new developments and plots of the French colonialists in the Northwest, the National Army Command decided to establish the Western Front (Tay Tien).
The Tay Tien Regiment was established in 1947, with the mission of coordinating with the Lao army to protect the country's border. The soldiers of the Tay Tien army were mostly young people, students, and young intellectuals in Hanoi. When the country was still invaded, they volunteered to register their names and take up arms to go to the battlefield. The Tay Tien army's area of operation was quite large, mainly in the Northwestern highland provinces such as Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa... During the resistance war against French colonialism, the Tay Tien army overcame all terrain difficulties to achieve resounding victories.
From October to December 1947, the French colonialists mobilized 12,000 troops with many planes, tanks, large artillery... to attack Viet Bac. The 52nd Tay Tien Regiment coordinated with local armed forces to step up combat activities to hold the enemy back and prevent them from concentrating their troops to attack Viet Bac.
In June 1949, the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment changed its name to the 12th Regiment of Inter-zone 3. Inheriting the tradition of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment, the former 12th Regiment, the officers and soldiers of the 52nd Regiment fought side by side with the 48th and 64th Regiments and other friendly units in the "Dong Bang Regiment" house, continuing to create new miracles.
To commemorate the great contributions of the soldiers of the Tay Tien Regiment, the Liaison Committee of Veterans of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment coordinated with the Party Committee and the Moc Chau District Government to build the Memorial Site of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment. The historical memorial site of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment was built with a total area of 5,000 m2, including items such as: Traditional houses, reliefs, memorials, stele of Tay Tien soldiers, nostalgic area, memorial tower.
