The Korean Embassy in Vietnam received and worked with the delegation of the People's Committee of Son La province.

The meeting aimed to introduce the potential investment, trade and tourism opportunities, projects calling for investment, investment attraction policies and information on economic diplomacy of the province. In addition, propose and recommend the content of coordination and support from the Korean Embassy in promoting investment, trade and tourism in Son La province.

Currently, Son La province has cooperative relations with Korea in the fields of economy, trade, agriculture, investment... Specifically, regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, in Son La province, there are 3 projects implemented by Korean investors, including: Van Ho high-tech agricultural product preservation and processing factory project, total investment capital of 6 million USD; Viet-Korea high-quality fruit and forestry tree production project, total investment capital of 1.5 million USD; CJ CGV Vietnam Co., Ltd., Son La Branch (service sector), total investment capital of over 1 million USD.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee introduced Son La safe agricultural products to the Korean Embassy in Vietnam.

Regarding the mobilization and management of NGO and ODA project aid, from 2020 to present, Son La province has received and allowed the implementation of 2 programs, projects, and aid packages, including: Medical aid shipment sponsored by Good Neighbors International (GNI), with a committed capital of 376,076 USD; support for warm hats for infants and young children in Son La province, sponsored by Save the Children Korea, with a committed capital of 67,490 USD.

Regarding trade promotion activities, the products exported to the Korean market of Son La province are mainly agricultural products. In addition, it has successfully connected 21 workers of Son La province to work in Korea for a limited period.

Son La Provincial People's Committee presented gifts to the Korean Embassy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong hoped that the Korean Embassy would continue to pay attention, connect, and create conditions for Korean investors to conduct comprehensive research on Son La province, especially the province's socio-economic development potential and goals. Support Son La province in exporting agricultural products to Korea, especially Son La products that have been protected abroad, products bearing the province's geographical name. Provide information, market orientation, conditions, standards, and regulations for products eligible for export to the Korean market, so that Son La can develop plans for production and consumption of products...

Consider investing in building industrial park infrastructure, especially Van Ho industrial park; continue to help the province in consolidating and expanding relations with sponsors, consultants, non-governmental organizations, strengthening relations with bilateral and multilateral organizations to receive information, support, foreign direct investment (FDI) capital... Son La province commits to always accompany, support, and create the most favorable conditions for Korean investors to invest, produce, and do business in Son La.

Representatives of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between the two sides; at the same time, acknowledged the proposals of the leaders of Son La province to report to competent authorities, and deploy solutions to promote deeper cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.
