(baosonla.vn) - On the afternoon of November 29th, a delegation from Son La province, led by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, held a working meeting with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam.

Receiving and working with the provincial delegation, the Korean Embassy in Vietnam was represented by Mr. Park Seungun, Economic Counselor; Mr. Lim Byung Chul, Home Affairs and Safety Attaché; Mr. Jeon Dumin, Commercial Attaché; and Mr. Shin Cheolbeom, First Secretary.

The meeting aimed to introduce the potential for investment, trade, and tourism opportunities, investment projects, investment attraction policies and mechanisms, and information on economic diplomacy in the province. In addition, proposals and recommendations were made regarding coordination and support from the Korean Embassy on investment, trade, and tourism promotion in Son La province.
Currently, Son La province has cooperative relations with South Korea in various fields: economics, trade, agriculture, investment, etc. Specifically, regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, Son La province currently has 3 projects implemented by South Korean investors, including: the Van Ho High-Tech Agricultural Product Preservation and Processing Plant Project, with a total investment of 6 million USD; the Vietnam-Korea High-Quality Fruit and Forestry Production Project, with a total investment of 1.5 million USD; and CJ CGV Vietnam Co., Ltd., Son La Branch (service sector), with a total investment of over 1 million USD.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee introduced safe agricultural products from Son La to the Korean Embassy in Vietnam.
Regarding the mobilization and management of NGO and ODA project aid, from 2020 to the present, Son La province has received and authorized the implementation of two aid programs/projects: a shipment of medical aid funded by Good Neighbors International (GNI), with a committed capital of USD 376,076; and support for warm hats for infants and young children in Son La province, funded by Save the Children Korea, with a committed capital of USD 67,490.
Regarding trade promotion activities, the main export items from Son La province to the South Korean market are agricultural products. In addition, successful connections have been made for 21 workers from Son La province to work in South Korea on temporary contracts.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong expressed his hope that the Korean Embassy would continue to pay attention to, connect with, and create favorable conditions for Korean investors to conduct comprehensive research on Son La province, especially its socio-economic development potential and goals. He also requested support for Son La province in exporting agricultural products to Korea, particularly Son La products that have been protected abroad and products bearing the province's geographical name. Furthermore, he requested information, market orientation, and standards and regulations for goods eligible for export to the Korean market, to help Son La develop production and consumption plans.
Consider investing in the construction of industrial park infrastructure, especially the Van Ho industrial park; continue to assist the province in consolidating and expanding relations with donors, consultants, and non-governmental organizations; strengthen relations with bilateral and multilateral organizations to receive information, support, and foreign direct investment (FDI)... Son La province is committed to always accompanying, supporting, and creating the most favorable conditions for Korean investors to invest, produce, and do business in Son La.
Representatives from the Korean Embassy in Vietnam highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between the two sides; at the same time, they acknowledged the proposals from the leaders of Son La province to report to the competent authorities and implement solutions to promote deeper cooperation between the two sides in the future.
