With the theme "Learning Cities Leading the Way in Climate Action," this year's conference focuses on building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient learning cities through lifelong learning.
The main purpose of the conference is not only for cities to meet, learn, and exchange experiences, but more importantly, for cities to act together and transform, using the power of education to make the world a better and more livable place.
The Vietnamese delegation participating in the 6th Conference included three cities: Vinh City (Nghe An province), Sa Dec City (Dong Thap province), both members of the Network since 2020, and Son La City (Son La province), a new member who joined the Network in February 2024.
Besides participating in exchanges at plenary and parallel sessions, representatives from Vietnamese cities also actively participate in cultural and educational exchanges with cities belonging to UNESCO's Global Learning Cities Network. The active participation and valuable contributions of Vietnam's learning cities have made a positive impression on international friends.
On the final day of the Conference (December 5, 2024), delegates visited and learned about the city of Jubail. Jubail was recently awarded the UNESCO Global Learning City Award 2024 for its remarkable desert greening story and its strategies for balancing industrial development and sustainable development through education.
