On December 9th, Mr. Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a conference to disseminate and implement Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated November 14, 2024, of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in Son La province for the period 2023-2025, and other relevant documents. Attending the conference were leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and organizations; and leaders of relevant districts.

At the conference, delegates were briefed on Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated November 14, 2024, of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in Son La province for the period 2023-2025 (Resolution No. 1280); Conclusion No. 1252-KL/TU dated November 23, 2024, of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on leading and directing the implementation of Resolution No. 1280; and Decision No. 2557/QĐ-UBND dated November 29, 2024, of the Provincial People's Committee on promulgating the plan for implementing Resolution No. 1280 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

Accordingly, in implementing the documents of competent authorities on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period, Son La province has 3 commune-level administrative units subject to rearrangement (towns in Thuan Chau, Yen Chau, and Phu Yen districts); at the same time, upgrading, expanding, and establishing urban administrative units to create momentum for socio-economic development and facilitate state management at the local level, including: Establishing Moc Chau town based on the existing Moc Chau district and rearranging and establishing commune-level administrative units within Moc Chau town; rearranging and adjusting administrative boundaries to expand Song Ma town, Song Ma district; establishing a town in Quynh Nhai district based on the existing Muong Giang commune, Quynh Nhai district. According to Resolution No. 1280 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Son La province has 12 district-level administrative units, including: 10 districts, 1 town and 1 city; and 200 commune-level administrative units, including: 177 communes, 15 wards and 8 townships.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Le Hong Minh emphasized: Relevant departments, agencies, and districts should focus on disseminating information to create consensus and unity of understanding among society, all levels and sectors, cadres, civil servants, employees, union members, association members, and the people regarding Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15, Conclusion No. 1252-KL/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, and relevant documents from competent authorities. The organizational structure and staffing of cadres, civil servants, and employees should be streamlined to ensure that agencies and organizations in the new administrative units begin operations immediately from February 1, 2025. Successfully fulfilling the above tasks will be an important prerequisite for organizing Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 16th Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, and for implementing organizational restructuring in accordance with the directives at the National Conference on the thorough understanding and implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
