To develop unique tourism products of the province, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop unique, different, professional tourism products, build new products and renew tourism products to attract tourists.

Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with the General Department of Tourism, tourism experts, travel agencies and People's Committees of districts and cities to conduct surveys to assess the current status of tourism resources, potentials and strengths of each locality, thereby orienting localities to build and develop unique, different and professional tourism products, build new products and renew tourism products to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Son La. The departments and localities have established working groups to conduct surveys, evaluate and appraise the conditions for recognition of tourist areas and destinations. Son La province has recognized 05 tourist areas and destinations that meet the conditions under the Law on Tourism, including: Ban Ang Pine Forest Tourist Area, Moc Chau District; Dai Yem Waterfall Tourist Area, Moc Chau District; Pha Din Top Tourist Area, Thuan Chau District; Golden Forest Tourist Area, Son La City; Hang Mieng Temple Tourist Area, Van Ho District.
Along with that, the province focuses on developing tourism products associated with preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups such as: Build a folk art troupe to perform folk songs, folk dances, and traditional musical instruments in Bon village, Quynh Nhai district; Ta Xua village, Bac Yen district; Hua Tat village, Van Ho district; Ta So village, Moc Chau district; Noong Duc village, Son La city. Build products of excerpts of traditional festivals of ethnic groups to meet the research and experience needs of tourists: Kin Pang Then festival, Quynh Nhai district, Het Cha festival, Moc Chau district, Ban flower festival, Van Ho district, New rice celebration festival, Muong La district. Implement the project "Building a model to improve livelihoods through introducing agricultural tourism to ethnic minority villages in mountainous areas of Vietnam" in Bo village, Son La city; coordinate with the GREAT project to implement the community tourism model in Ta So village, Vat village, Moc Chau district.
Hanoi Tourism Corporation (Hanoitourit) has sent tourism experts to support Son La province in researching and identifying tourism resources, potentials, and strengths to focus on building unique tourism products in Ban Kha, Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau district; Building unique tourism products at the Son La Prison National Special Monument to improve the quality and value of tourism products to attract tourists to Son La.
The province also focuses on implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program to affirm the origin, source, and quality of products to stimulate the purchasing power of tourists. Districts and cities focus on developing different tourism products, renewing products such as: Moc Chau district develops Ta So community tourism village; walking street - Night market, Doi village community tourism village, Na Sang tourism village. Mai Son district puts the historical relic site of Co Noi junction into operation in association with tourism development. Muong La district builds the product "Son La Hydropower Tourism - The largest project in Southeast Asia", develops community tourism in Ngoc Chien commune. Quynh Nhai district develops lake eco-tourism; experiential tourism of Quynh Nhai eco-tourism cooperative, Ban Bon community tourism cooperative; Linh Son Thuy Tu spiritual and cultural tourism area and Nang Han Temple, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara Statue; Amitabha Buddha Statue...
In 2022, Son La province focused on investing and putting into operation to serve tourists 03 new unique, distinctive and professional tourism products: Bach Long Glass Bridge, Northern Europe Village, walking street - Night Market in Moc Chau national tourist area, this is a tourism product with the power to attract more domestic and international tourists to Son La, stay longer, contributing significantly to completing the province's tourist target in 2022.
